Dress Your Style - Michelle

Sorry it took a few days to respond to the "dress your style" challenge.
The outfit I came up with can be partly attributed to the boyfriend, who rarely remembers articles of clothing but did happen to ask about a dress and jacket I used to wear that featured a fair bit of apricot pink. I'm not wild about the dress, but do like the jacket with its cute buttons and thought I'd see if it could be resurrected. This outfit gave me a chance to give it a try and seek your feedback.

I described my current style as classic, colourful and conservative, but Angie nixed the last descriptor as inaccurate. I believe this outfit captures the classic vibe I go for, with the jacket adding the requisite colour. I adore necklaces and thought this one could work by being neutral in colour yet still hopefully interesting.
I listed my style goals as effortless, sassy and sophisticated. This is not sassy at all, but I hope it looks unfussy. Someone else will have to rule on the sophistication quotient.

I only have the one pic, so here are the elements: super dark-wash boot cut jeans, black low v-neck gap t, apricot jacket with black buttons, silver necklace with pearl and crystal stuff, silver tear-drop earrings, the pewter KC wedges everyone liked from the previous outfit post. Apologies for the bad hair day.

I hope this encapsulates my style, and I hope it looks ok enough to be worn out of the house!

That's a very pretty color on you!

Oh, very nice! I love that color on you; the peach brings out the peaches in your cheeks. It's definitely classic, colorful, and effortless; the necklace is a lovely touch.

I think you could go with a lighter blouse/top under the jacket instead of the black and it would look just as good.

Actually it's funny you mention that, Kristen, I searched high and low for a white version of the same t, but turns out I didn't buy one! Someone wasn't thinking. :) May have to go back and see if they've got some. I have a red, but obviously that wasn't on with this jacket.

The peach is a pretty color on you, and I like the silver sandals. Your doggy is the perfect accessory, too! :D

I just thought of something you might try to add some sass to your outfits. I noticed you wear a lot of pastel colors, which I like. Have you ever thought of adding some jewel tones to your wardrobe? I think slightly brighter, more intense colors would really suit you since your skin is so creamy and your hair is dark.

Michelle - your adjectives are spot on with this outift. It looks really well put together and really you. I love how your makeup, necklace, shoes, hair, all complement your outfit.

Yes, I think you've hit your current adjectives on the nose. Definitely effortless, and I think sophisticated--great combo of classy clothes. I agree with Kristen; a lighter tee would lighten up the outfit.

I echo the above. Well done, Michelle! Peach is so pretty on you. Brings out the colour in your skin.

The bag and sandals make the outfit. The power of accessories :0)

Perhaps a top in the right shade of green under this jacket would liven things up a bit?

Oh, I think so! I love peach and green together- it has such a Hamptons, preppy kind of vibe, but done right it looks so good! :)

Very pretty! I love the idea of green. Your puppy reminds me of my puppy. ;)
