MamaKate, I think the pattern mixing works nicely (mainly because of the greenish color in the top is mirrored with an olive stripe in the jacket and the pants). Very cool boots!

Antje, LOVE this styling of this dress with the lower-slung belt! That circly belt is awesome What did you wear as a topper/outerwear to combat the rain today?

Bella, I can't decide if I love your outfit or your style observations more I get a 70s feel from your outfit, but it certainly doesn't look like a copy nor vintagey; it's an excellent example of how to take inspiration from an era and make it look completely modern.

Sharon, now THAT is one amazing vest!! I really like how you echoed the white/cream again with your flats and the chain necklace (and also the checkers on the floor behind you, hehe!).

Suz, this is another great example of taking inspiration but not copying. Streamlining the 70s version of this (belled sleeves, brown accessories, flared pants) keeps this looking quite current to me, though I do want to see some heels with those pants Also I have to say that your hair is really cute with those little waves!

Tracina, I love love love your 70s inspired outfit!! The colors are gorgeous and fit the era perfectly. Your tie-dyed flowy top is just so dreamy (are those sequins at the hem?), the light footwear picks up the light tones AND makes the denim pop nicely, and your hair styling is an extra fab touch.

Kim, cute! I like the proportions of the longer jacket with this dress, especially with the long pendant.

Aida, you are too kind!

The shoe is the Porter pump from Adrienne Vittadini. I bought it in two colors but have been a little challenged in how to style it, so I'm happy to finally wear it out of the house!

Ohhh so pretty! I think it'll work with your skirt outfits that use dark heels, really cute with skinnies for weekend dressy-casual looks (add some denim!), with black tights or nude fishnets, with midis for a retro vibe, under bootcuts in place of pumps....

Finally back to comment -

Amazing looks everyone! Sveta, I kept hoping you would wear the furry vest to work, too. That is a terrific outfit! Seriously. (But if it rained today where you are as it rained here, you wouldn't want the vest on...)

Kari, we had the same inspiration photo! You look terrific. Love that yellow bag.

Ornella, I died and went to heaven! Annie Hall!! Oh for the days when we didn't know what a creep Woody Allen turned out to be!

Glam, so glad you kicked us into disco with your sparkles!

MaryK, those two outfits are so fantastic I can't stand it. I especially love #1. The blouse looks amazing with that vest!

Citygirl, both your looks are great but look #2 is seriously sexy!

Carole, aren't you glad you kept that blouse? You look wonderful in it, whatever the era!

Mamakate, you do demure 70s gorgeously.

Antje, that is a totally wearable look; I love the low-slung belt!

Bella, you look stunning. And isn't it interesting to see what we learn about ourselves from these challenges? We should have a thread about that after we're all done.

Sharon, I LOVE the John Travolta look. I was so hoping someone would do this. I wanted to but did not have the pieces for it.

And Aida, you look PERFECTLY the part! Yet at the same time you could easily wear this again and not look costumy! Oh, and about my outfit, believe it or not there are some (2 inch) heels on underneath those long jeans. Yes, my legs ARE short. But in fairness to myself, they look even shorter because of the camera angle. My daughter is still learning and she is nowhere near as tall as me. Trust me, IRL it looked at least marginally better!

Tracina, you absolutely ROCK this decade!

Queen Mum, great to see you back, and wow, that jacket really works in this context! Love it with the asymetrical hem.

Looking forward to our later posters, too.

Aida those are indeed sequins at the hem, and yesterdays top also had metallic threads. I guess I have that magpie gene.

Ok, I'm back to say how much I enjoyed this challenge, it was my favorite by far. I discovered just how many pieces today are 70's inspired!

Sveta-Love your 70's style. Killer vest, btw.

Kari-Great modern day 70's ensemble,flares and all.

Ornella-Excellent Annie Hall impersonation! Super cute tie, too. I must have missed the starching tip, have to check that out.

Glam on the inside-You look groovy, baby.

Di-Not sloppy at all, I like this outfit alot. The vest is such a nice color contrast to the black. Well done.

Mark K-My 70's sista! I used my Hinge blouse for this challenge, too. Love the vest and wide leg pants. The bonus of your vintage gown is killer. Such beautiful psychedelic colors.

Cty girl-love up your mini dress, so 70's!

Mamakate-Nailed it! The hand made boots are killer, love the color.

Ante-Gorgeous dress, love. And we are belt twins. Love that touch.

Bella-70's inspired but perfect for 2011!

Sharon-I was hoping someone would do John Travolta, love it! That's one great vest.

Suz-We are Long and Lean twins. Great top and such a fun 70's style pattern, the wide belt the perfect accessory!

Aida-All the elements of your outfit look so authentic. The turtleneck, vest and bell bottoms are brilliant. Well done!

Tracina-Absolutley LOVE that top-very 70's inspired with the tie dye like pattern. Such beautiful colors!

Kim-I almost forgot about jean jackets in the 70's! Love this with the midi.

UGH, my camera was zoomed in this morning when I took these and I didn't notice! You can BARELY see my flatform shoes in the bottom of the photo. I was inspired by this cool picture of 70's fashion models.

Jenava-cool outfit, I catch a little glimpse of your shoes and they take your outfit to the next level! Brilliant.

Sorry I'm late posting these, was busy with work and with a sick kid, but here are my 70's looks. The first one I actually wore on the 60's day because I wasn't going to work so the sheath dresses I posted wouldn't work for MOTG. But it's kind of a late 60's/early 70's look to me. Thursday I wore the Missoni Target crazy patterned blouse, Pilcro flare cords in rust, and mustard yellow blazer and my suede rust colored heeled sandals. This crazy colorful blouse reminds me of the patterns my mom used to wear when I was little in the 70's. Growing up in the 80's/90's, we always thought those clothes looked so tacky and loud, and yet here I am wearing the same type of clothes now that I have babies of my own. Funny how that works!

1. Hinge mustard & grey damask patterned tie neck blouse, Gap Long and Lean dark grey jeans tucked into brown suede La Canadienne boots.
2-4. Missoni Target blouse, Anthro cords & blazer, and Chie Mihara sandals.
5. My mom and me at 1 week old!

Look at your mom's top! You see, you got your love of prints and colour in the cradle! And you are both adorable.

NAtalie - your missoni top is the perfect 70s blouse. #2 captures the whole vibe of the 70s, both the color palette and the silhouette.
