Does this work?

Here's a tunic I've been sewing & a vest over top. The tunic is rather voluminous, and too wide in the neckline for me, so I can't wear it by itself. I'm trying to decide if it's worth finishing. The sleeve hems & the bottom hem (though I did turn up the bottom hem to about where it would end up) are the big things that need to be done.

If it doesn't work with the vest on top I'll have to toss it. No pressure, though, even if I need to toss it I won't mind.

Anyway, what do you think?

Christine, I like the top and vest together but I don't think they work with the pants. There's too much width in the pants to go with a voluminous top like that. Do you have any slim pants that you could try this look with?

Christine, maybe the vest would work unbuttoned over the tunic, with slimmer pants. Love the glasses and the red and black combo on you!! I would not ditch the tunic.

I think it would work better if the top were longer, actual tunic length. With the vest it kind of poufs at the bottom, but it seems like there is not enough length. Does it really not work without a vest? Maybe belted?

Love the new glasses! I like the vest and tunic but agree that narrower pants will improve the look, and with skinny jeans you may want a longer tunic.

The glasses look awesome! Yay!

At first I thought the tunic was a little too voluminous at the bottom hem to wear with the vest, but then I remembered that you folded up the bottom hem to show what length it would be.

When it's not folded up & is just seamed normally, will it "pouf" out as much below the vest? Or do you have the option of making the tunic a teeny bit longer (like an inch or two) which might balance out the volume you're getting on top? I'm not a seamstress, so these are completely uneducated questions!

I love your tunic too, please don't give up on it. The colors look good. I'm not sure if the vest is the right piece to put over the tunic. Perhaps a belted cardigan would be better? I think the two necklines are fighting each other. Do you think wearing a cami under the tunic, or a light weight summer scarf on your neckline would solve the issue of the neckline being cut too wide for you? Then maybe a belt over the tunic if you feel you need more waist definition. By trial and error you should have a fine tunic there. I love the color on you, and I like the length of the sleeves.

Thanks everyone. When I have time (probably not until next weekend - this week I'm SWAMPED) I'll take some more pics with alternate looks & see what you think. I'm not sure how much longer I can make the tunic because it's a straight tunic (with the volume up top) not an a-line tunic, so the longer it is, the tighter it gets on my lower half, but I'll see what I can do.

Do you think I could wear it over a shirt with a collar & then belt it? I'll try it out, anyway, when I do my fashion show next weekend.
