Does this denim jacket fit me?

Please help!

I ordered the Eddie Bauer denim jacket that has been recommended here. I can't tell if it fits or not. From what I've read here, getting the fit right on a denim jacket is important, but I don't really know what that means.

I ordered two different sizes, small and petite small. I took a bunch of pictures of the jacket both buttoned and unbuttoned. Also, in the photos I'm trying on the jacket over a tunic & leggings, since I wanted to try that look. I think it looks kind of stupid, so please ignore that part and focus on the jacket fit.

I prefer the small. the petite small looks boxier since it is more cropped. The small looks great and seems to fit very well.

Didn't Eddie Bauer file for bankruptcy? Assuming they are still accepting returns, I would advise you to return whichever jacket you decide not to keep as soon as you can.

The small will work well with many different outfits-proportions/length of tops vs. bottoms.

Eddie Bauer did file for bankruptcy. So I concur that it would
be best to return as soon as you can.

I also agree the small seemed a better fit. It's very cute on you! I really like the leggings look you are playing around with, not stupid at all in my eyes. That tunic is so cute.

I agree that the small size is more versatile than the petite small; however, I think both sizes look ok on you! The small is a good length for the tunic/legging look; I could see the more cropped petite small with skirts (although the small size would also work).

I also prefer the small, but I would take it to a taylor to make it more fit on the waist, because it seems a little boxy..

I'm the odd one out: I prefer the petite, it fits you better in the shoulders and the sleeve length.

I actually liked the petite too, san. From the back, it looks like the small is just a bit too long, and you get that puckering near the hem.

I hands down prefer the petite. Shiny and I are on the same fit wavelength this morning. Denim jackets need to look cheeky. The shorter one is definitely cheekier!

Medusa I hope you haven't returned the petite jacket yet. I do think you should have the aist tailored a little to keep it from looking boxy.
I saw Angie's decade old denim jacket in person. It fits her to a T and she said she had the whole thing reworked to get that perfect fit which means it will be a vintage classic in her wardrobe.

Wow, interesting! I haven't returned the petite yet - I'm glad about that. I picked up on the boxiness of the petite as well, since it is shorter.

It seems like a bunch of you think the petite should be tailored. (Angie - do you agree with that also?) To those of you who have done this - what do you ask your tailor to do? Just take it in along the side seams? Create darts like on a blouse?

I don’t think the petite is boxy at all. You have a straight-ish figure and that jacket fits well. Does the petite feel boxier, Medusa?

Angie - Umm, I don't really know. I'm not confident in my ability to know if it fits well or not.

I'm going to keep the petite small and try wearing it with some outfits. That way I can get a better idea how I think it looks/feels.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I feel like I need a lot of handholding on these decisions, and I appreciate that you're willing to give it.
