Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Colors for Hot Weather?

I don't look good at all in pastels or very light colors, and I'm wondering what colors I should look for in summer tops. (It's already in the high 80's - 90's here in SoCal.) Should I stick to white? Bright optical white can be a little strong on me, but it's very hard to find casual tops in off-white. In other seasons I would throw on a scarf and that would bring my best colors up to my face, but obviously I'm not going to do that when it's 90 degrees. What colors work best in summer on someone who looks best in deep, rich colors? (I do wear some black, even in summer - say a sleeveless top - but I'm trying to wean myself off ALL black.)

I generally wear the same colors in winter that I do in summer, although I try to cut down on less black and add in more white. I like brights and jewel tones, so those are the colors for tops I look for. I steer away from pastels regardless of the season. *g*

For you, why not look at the scarves you know work with your face and complexion, and pick out some of those colors to look for as tops?

I've seen a lot of deep, rich or vibrant colors for summer wear, too- deep purples, dark blue-greens, fuschias and oranges, and does khaki work for you? That's another color that I have seen a lot of. Maybe white or denim bottoms paired with a solid or patterned top in the deeper tones?
here's some color examples (ignore styles)

Chewy - I really like those Old Navy colors (the purple, the dark sea blue and the chocolate!) I like that they're deep and not too bright. I just wish they made styles that worked for my body - I don't do well in anything babydoll or that calls too much attention to the bust.

Summer colours for, Tara: teal, dirty turquoise, sea green, muted magenta, chestnut, violet, rich lilac, lipstick, soft coral, navy and black. That’s how specific I’m being!

Wear white bottoms with black tops and wear white tops with a black necklace. You are tasked :0)

Anyone seen Star Trek yet?

No, I am hoping to go see it this weekend, Angie. Are those colors you posted for Tara the color the their uniforms or something? :D

It was GREAT. I highly recommend it. Their colours aren’t quite for Tara though :0)

Ha, I LOVE that you gave Tara specific colors! I can't wait to see what she does with them; they all could look great on her.

Oh my, just reading that list makes me want to run out and get tops in those colors...chestnut! Violet! I don't have those. Yet. *g*

And don't discount Star Trek so quickly - you haven't seen me rock a futuristic silver spandex space suit yet!
