Color Combinations

I love chocolate brown. I was pairing it with soft blue and pale pink, but I feel those combinations are played out. White is a stand by of course. But what other colors would work for spring?

I also have the same problem with army green. I paired my army green pants withe a bright blue long sleeve T with a grey short sleeve top over. I am still on the fence with that combination...but at least it wasn't white.

For chocolate brown, I like to pair darker shades with it, like cobalt blue or sea green in a silky fabric then add some accessories with yellow or lime green in them. Or I guess that you can mix lavender, white and chocolate brown together but it's similar to the pale pink/chocolate brown combination.

I feel that those combos are passé too. I only like chocolate brown with white and yellow at the moment. Remember that you don’t need to wear yellow close to your face if you feel that it’s unflattering. It can be in a scooped neck camisole, belt, shoe, pendant, bracelet or handbag. But I’m pretty sure that you can wear a spot of yellow Nicole.

I have just purchased 3 army green items – all tops. I like to keep this colour CLEAN and FRESH so that it stays feminine. Try pairing it with cream and that rich red that you like, or cream and black. The color is great with citron too.

Hmmm you know, I NEVER think of yellow. I don't even own anything yellow. I own camis and tank in every color imaginable--except yellow! I will look for one to add to my collect and see if I can introduce it in small doses.

I never thought of pairing army green with red. Would that be more for winter? I love the idea of citron though. That would be fresh. I wear black with EVERYTHING (ok not w/navy or brown but everything else). I'm trying really hard to not bring an more black into my closet, especially tops. Thanks for the ideas!

Try yellow and citron Nicole. Red and army green is great for Spring and Summer if you add cream or white into the same ensemble too – keeps the look fresh and modern.

Now I’ve given you something extra to think about at night as you re-invent outfit combinations in your head! I am so glad that you are NOT black-rutting.

Hey Nicole, just another plug for yellow. I hadn't owned anything yellow, either, but decided it's just too fun and hip a color to miss out on. So I bought a pair of yellow flats and a yellow bag. Plus a top that contains just a little bit of yellow (it's mostly blue and green, both colors that are flattering for me). If you don't wear too much of it, and not close to your face, it's a SUPER color. I wore my yellow shoes for the first time this week and they just made me smile.
I'm also amazed at how versatile the color is - yellow looks great with just about everything. Who knew?!
Now I'm looking for a pair of earrings and/or a bracelet with yellow, and then I can wear a touch of yellow all the time... It just makes ya feel like spring!

Thanks AntjeH! I love the idea of a yellow bag. I had been looking for a robin egg blue bag, but have not found one I like that doesn't cost 300 dollars, so maybe I'll broaden my search to include a yellow bag. I'm patient and will wait for the right piece at the right price. I also like the idea of yellow shoes with dark rinsed jeans. I don't wear jeans that often, so it would be a nice change for me.

I'm not surprised to hear that a splash of yellow in an outfit works well. I've mentioned before that I think there is a bit of a correlation between fashion and home decor. I read in a mag once that every room should have at least a small spot of yellow in it. (Like a bowl of lemons, or a stack of yellow books, a yellow vase). I find that having bits of yellow around my house works wonders. So, it makes sense that it will work in fashion.
