Clamdigger experiment pics

Here is the result of me shortening the H&M skinnies I got from Maya (thanks Maya!) to clamdigger length. Any thoughts on fit/length?

These jeans are a little too tapered around the knee, so I can absolutely see why they would not be flattering as skinnies. Do they work as clams? They are also a bit lighter than my J Crew clams, which isn't a problem considering my current lifestyle.

They look good to me. Do they feel comfortable to you? Are these the matchstick jeans? They look like a good fit on you. How did you sew them? Did you hem by hand?

Thanks San, these are the H&M jeans Maya gave away a while back. They are fairly tight but they are also quite stretchy. I do own a pair of matchsticks but they stretched out so much. I did the "original" hem on my sewing machine (which is pretty basic and can barely handle thick denim).

Oh, they look good on you. I can see where they would be very skinny as skinnies. Have you tried the look with the hem rolled up? I do that with my JCrew clam diggers as they are a bit long for me. I like the more casual look.

Ah, to have sewing skills.

Oooh they look amazing! They were definitely not flattering as anything except boot-tucking jeans, but you have successfully transformed them. I'm glad they were put to good use!

Dani, considering how much I wore the matchsticks last summer, I want to get at least one more pair of clams. I can't spend too much so I am not sure what I'll do. Maybe I could alter the matchsticks or get another pair and go down in size... hopefully there will be options this spring. This exercise also gives me a better idea of what to look for if I wanted to get another pair for shortening.
