What kind of vest will work best for a larger chest? I would really like to get one but it seems like there are so many different details. I'm not sure if it matters or not.

I think a vest is going to accentuate the bust, so you might stick to something that has a deep V neckline, and maybe something that is knit, rather than structured. I had a suiting type vest, and I got rid of it because it made me feel really big on top (and I'm a 36C, which I don't consider to be extremely well-endowed). I have a couple deep V sweater vests (light weight merino, solid colors) and those have worked well for me.

AnaElizabeth makes a good point. Were you inspired by the “”vests” on Esprit's site? Also, what do you mean by vest? I call them sleeveless pullovers, body warmers and waistcoats. Each item is very different .A vest is an undergarment in my world. Things get lost in translation!

I guess I'm referring to any sleeveless layering garment? Whether knitted or the more tailored menswear type. I am really just looking for new and different layering pieces. The camisole under a v-neck is nice but I'm getting really bored with it.

But as usual , they have a lot of nerve charging those prices. Unfortunately I can't seem to find anything comparable, which I guess is why they can get away with charging that much in the first place.

Nice artsy look. Have you tried vest options on? If so, what's the verdict?

Yeah, that is a cute look, mayapple. I find so many cute things (that actually work for me and go with my style) at Anthropologie and I just can't find them anywhere else. Grrr at the prices/quality. Sometimes I bite the bullet and just buy something from them though if I really love it.

This one was no good. A medium resulted in some funny gapping and a small smashed my chest...not a good look.

This one worked much better because it had more coverage, and it was actually very cute and fit well. I just don't know how I would wear it because it's white.

The knitted type works, but I can't find any that are interesting enough for me. They're either solid or argyle and I find them rather boring.

My biggest challenge so far is that they are all too long. My bottom layer is usually about the same length. I guess I would have to have it altered if that's even possible.

Even if I can't wear a vest, I would still like to find new layering techniques that are a bit more interesting than a cardigan and a camisole. So far I can't find a tank that really matches up to the Anthro one, but I could never ever spend $118 even if it was the last visually interesting tank on earth.

The white waistcoat is great. It's nice for Spring & Summer. It's different and will look fab against your dark skin contrasted with a darker top.

Think about different fabric textures when you layer as opposed to just the items. A knit over a knit is not nearly as interesting as a knit over a woven because the contarst is greater. Blousie tops with knits over them get my vote for best layering look at the moment. Especially when the sleeves are at different lengths.

I turned down that vest because I don't have anything I can wear it with. i guess I would have to get a knit vest because I have 3 buttondown shirts, one of which is unwearable without a layer on top (it's completely shapeless). They have some colorful ones on Boden but they are very long and I don't think I could get them altered to be short enough since it can't be cut.

Can't you wear the woven white vest with any of your knits? What about that turquoise blue knitted top you like so much. I think it was from Zara?

Mayapple, Have you been checking out the Junior Departments? I wouldn't be surprised if you had more luck in the junior department for this kind of thing.

I may wear that top and try the vest on again and see if it works. My suspicion is that it will be too short, but maybe I will be pleasantly surprised!

Nicole, I always check the juniors dept. first because I'm cheap I haven't had a chance to go live shopping yet because I have been at home for break, but once I'm back in the city I might brave the crowds at Macys.

I got it in yellow. I have already envisioned it with several pieces in my closet. Can't wait till it gets here.

AnaElizabeth, this is my first order so I can't vouch for its accuracy. Some things I have noticed that I don't like are:

-they recommend a lot of high necklines for busty women
-their jeans are virtually all flared
-they recommend a lot of wideleg pants (in some cases very wide) for me, even though I'm only 5'2
-To be blunt, some of the styles just seem old
-They have different women that represent each shape, who I think show up when you first get to the website. Some of them really don't look fabulous to me...or I guess I should say the clothes they were given aren't the best for them.

So will everything fit? Probably. Will it flatter? That's another question. I don't think any store is going to achieve that though, so I appreciate the effort.

I agree with you about the jeans and necklines, though. Flares aren't my thing.

I will post my results as soon as I get it. But I only ordered that one thing, so who knows how accurate it will be. I much preferred their winter styles and wish I had ordered something then. You get $25 your first purchase, so if there is something you really love, go for it.
