Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Call for new color combos!

Does anyone lately share my desire for some new and fresh color combos? Maybe it's the change of season. Maybe it's the fact that maternity wear doesn't really come in a lot of interesting colors. In any case, I've been feeling lately that I want to change up from my usual colors and do something new and different.

Now that I've found "my" chestnut (see my chestnut thread), I really want to pair it with dark grey. Thoughts? What new color combos do you want to try or have you tried?

Yes! I am definitely trying to brainstorm some new color combinations. I have to run to class, but I will try to think of some and post them here. I will also see what other ladies post, it's usually very inspiring.

I saw one color combination in the Pantone Fall 2009 color set that I've been itching to try--olive green and orange. It just seems like it could be really funky and interesting if done right. Plus, two of my favorite colors together! What could be better? :D

Some others I've been rolling around my head:

Teal, navy and Camel
Warm Olive (almost mustard, but more green) and a deep, warm Purple
Same color olive with a deeper midnight blue might be nice. The blue needs to be a bit warm though.

Angie, I can't wait for your post tomorrow. :)

Ana - I love your color idea's! Be careful on the olive green & orange. I did that one day & my orange was a little too bright & felt like I needed to bring my husband's gun along with me! LOL!!

Teal & Camel - I'm planning to try that one myself in the next week or so only I'll do black instead of navy!

I'm loving teal this winter & planning to mix it up with some deep purple as well!

I so love this time of year & there are lot's of jewel tones out right now, I feel like a kid in a candy store. Only which candy to spend those pennies on right now!! :)

Since getting a girl for baby #4 (all the rest are boys), I've been completely surprised and pleased with pink and a rich brown together...

JG, I will definitely be careful of orange and green! :D I was envisioning a sort of burnt orange, rather than bright orange.

I've been liking my orangey tomato reds with grey instead of browns, any grey.
Cobalt with light olive might have possibilities but may need another shade thrown into the mix...maybe mustard or navy?

I am a big fan of teal and purple, with grey and maybe a touch of cream.

I'm really liking purple this season and I was thinking of olive green, burnt orange, rich brown and red. I know red and purple might be weird but I'm hoping it might work with other dominant colors.

Count me in for another purple fan!

I'm liking Ana's idea of olive/chartreuse and a burnt orange, which automatically makes me think of the colors Boden has been using. I'm liking navy/ink blue with tomato red or coral and charcoal/gray, I've experimented by using tan and gray together, and my mom convinced me that I could wear cobalt blue and mustard together without looking like I'd overdosed on Crayola crayons. I'm also liking purpley ultamarine with cherry red or mauve and teal.

How about a grayish medium purple with deep burnt orange?

Ooh, all of your color combos sound so rich! You are giving me some great ideas. I think the ones I'm going to have to try include teal, camel, and navy (except I don't know that I've got any camel), tomato and grey and as usual I'm all over purple this season.

Keep them coming!

Grey, purple and orange.

Or did someone already say that?

Hmmmm. I'm into pink and red and mixing red with purple too. Love yellow with red too.

Ooh Angie, I wore red with purple yesterday and it looked fantastic. It drew so many compliments, including "you are definitely the fashionista of the group". I plan on trying purple, coral and grey tomorrow.

So many wonderful color combinations. I must write them down. I am going to play with purple this fall/winter because it is such a beautiful versatile color that I have not used much before. I am also obsessed with mustard yellow.

I've been playing around with color combos as well...I'm liking mustard yellow with colors like purple, teal and the pinky red that's everywhere right now. I also like teal with the same pinky red. I love these threads...they always provide such an inspiration.
