Imagine my surprise when I began doing further research on the Trudy boots from yesterday's post and discovered that they *might* be carried at a brick and mortor store here in Toronto. Picture my further shock to discover that they were, in fact, in stock, along with several other wide-calf boots and wide-width shoes! It seems this little-known mom and pop shop specializes in difficult sizes, has done so for 25 years, and managed to stay off the city's collective radar for most of that time!
So I gleefully sally forth to check out this hidden gem, where I discover that the Trudy boots *don't* actually fit. The store owner was the original Captain Obnoxious, but was certainly knowledgeable and eager to please. He produced a few options, some of which gaped horribly at the top of the calf, but finally managed to produce a pair that I think will work, pending YLF approval. It's another Blondo style:

The pair he had in stock had ankles that were far too baggy, so I am waiting for a pair with a more tapered lower leg. If all goes to plan and you guys give me the green light, I may be in possession of tall boots by the end of the weekend, all without paying a single inflated shipping charge. If you rule against these boots, I will listen and look elsewhere.
Thanks again, you wonderfully patient people!
