I know, I know, I haven't put up the pictures from yesterday's shopping spree yet, but those are coming tonight. IN the meantime, though, I have a couple of more general questions that will dictate what I do with some of the new purchases.

One question has to do with the tweed jacket I bought:

Because the collar is so broad, should I avoid collared shirts under it? For instance, I was thinking of pairing this with black pants and a fuchsia button-down (with pearls), but would that be too much activity around the neck? If button-downs are out, what's best?

Pencil skirt: I finally found one that I'm confident you'll approve. It's charcoal grey and falls straight to my knee. As usual, though, I have a conundrum when it comes to top-lengths. I know you're supposed to wear shirts that stop at the hip-bone. Does the same rule apply to jackets? I always figured slightly longer jackets were ok with skirts, mostly because I know people often purchase suits that include both a skirt and pants to go with the same jacket. Would a shorter top layered under a longer jacket be effective over a pencil skirt, or should I just stick to the more cropped length?

The results of this discussion will be implemented in tonight's picture-taking session.
