Angie, you've been talking about how every woman should have a pair of Frye's, which is hitting a nerve for me; I have long wanted a pair but have been afraid to make the plunge. Is there a particular style you would recommend? I am thinking I might get a pair for my birthday in March, but I am not sure if I should look at the Engineer style or more of their cowboy boot ones...I guess it depends on what I would wear them with. They would be a weekend look for sure for me, so with jeans or casual dresses.

I did order a pair of the flat ankle Miz Mooz boots in blue; they will arrive next week! But I still want some Frye's, and now might be the time to go for it.

Kristen - I'm not Angie, but I'm so glad you got the blue Miz Mooz! I saw them in person at Nordstroms and fell in love with that blue too. Be sure to post pics when you get them.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing Angie's top Frye recommendation(s) too . . .

If you want something more flat, I admired those Veronica slouch boots on a friend the other day. Another friend owns the Carson boots in smoke, which are vaguely cowboy style, but with a more rounded toe: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....rchresults

I have a dark brown pair of Frye harness boots and grey Billy shorties thanks to Angie's recommendation. Unhealthy new Frye boot obsession: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....rchresults. They look like they might even go over the knee when unfolded?

As a strategic thought, since you bought the cowboy-style Miz Mooz, and you have the Camuto sort-of-cowboyesque boots, maybe something other than a cowboy style?

Oooh, some great ideas already! I already have a fab tall rich brown riding boot with my Franco Sartos, and as Laura noted, I have the tall black cowboy-esque Camutos and soon the Miz Mooz. So a different style is a good idea, like the Harness or the Janes...

I'm open to either heels or flat, Angie. I love both types; it's like trying to pick which is my favorite kitty, Sophie or George!

When I think Frye, I automatically visualize the calf-height 12R Harness style. I just can't figure out if that's really the right style for me. Thoughts?

Ha, I would *not* have guessed you were going to suggest knee-high, Angie; you like to keep me on my toes!

Oooh, Sarah I really like the first pair but they're a little too similar to what I have now...but maybe in a different color. Hmmm.

I see a trip to Nordstroms in my near future so I can try some of these on! I had Paige buckles last year -- twice! -- but I returned them because they were buckets around my calves. I am not super-fussy about calf fit, but this was so outlandish even my husband noticed. I am still sad about giving up on those...

Kristen, I had those Paige boots for a while also 2 years ago. I posted here and they were voted off, just an odd fit. They were my first pair of boots so I had no idea how they should fit.
This will be fun finding your Frye's. There are so many styles. Last fall I ordered 2 pair. One fit great and were on clearance, the other pair was too small. I was very dissappointed in Frye for having such a size variance.

They are super comfy. The heel is very walkable and the leather scrunches and feels like butter.
I know Angie has said tall boots for you. I just thought I'd pipe up in the conversation.

OMG San, I cannot stop staring at those Rory slouches; I especially love the natural leather ones. I don't have any boots in that lighter caramel brown...yet. I like the heel too; I have a couple of pairs of older heeled pointy-toed Sartos that are looking a little worse for wear, and the Rorys would be a good replacement.

Okay, that's it. I'm headed to the Schaumburg mall this morning to go try some on; I want to compare the Harness to the Rory to maybe even the cowboy Carson. Just to see; I will need a trip with Laura65 to help me narrow it down to just one style, I am sure!

Ooh, I didn't realize that Rory has a 2-inch heel. It looks higher for some reason. Now I'm really torn between Rory and Harness.

San, you have the Rory boot, right? Is it hard to put your foot inside?

The Rory is easy to put on but I had to learn to use the inside tug loops! That's what they're for and it's simple. They run large and the heel is very walkable. The leather definately scrunches down all by itself.

I had to really think about the golden hue of this boot for myself, being a cool color gal. I do love the golden leaves mixed in with the other autumn colors that I do wear like smokey purple, plum, burgundy, grey, black, brown, green. I think this gold hue will be a nice, rich, neutral. I attribute this as a lesson learned here as I've always been very afraid of any yellow for me. I'm looking at this as more of a golden to layer in.
I'm loving these Carson in Jade and a few more colors too.

I am looking forward to your post! I still haven't decided on my favorite Fryes. I definitely want something tall, and am deciding between the Veronica, Maxine and Campus. Hmmm. I also cannot decide on dark brown or black leather.
