I'm curious what you think about wearing the J.crew *Juliet tortoise patent-leather midheels* with black trousers & skirts. I purchased them and I have more black work clothes than any other color. I LOVE them and think they look good but I'm not one hundred percent confident about mixing browns with black so I'd love your thoughts on it. The only other thing besides black that I coud wear them with is a single navy skirt. I haven't worn them yet so I can send them back. Thanks!

Thank you Rute. I think it does look good and I feel great in them but had read to never wear brown shoes with black clothing or black shoes with brown clothing.

Wilson - you wouldn't want to wear a black pants outfit with brown shoes if there weren't other touches of brown as well, since it would look odd and random. But I love mixing brown and black when it looks purposeful (e.g., black pencil skirt and tank with deep brown cardigan and belt, deep brown tights and shoes.)

Your tortoise shoes with black would definitely look purposeful! Will you post a photo when you wear them together? Sounds gorgeous.
