Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Are these cool and funky or grannyish and dorky?

I like the low heel and the super duper memory foam padding Natural Comfort (RIP) uses. If I"m going to get them, I better get them now because I think NC is out of business. And I'm kind of drawn to the gray patent. But part of me thinks they're old ladyish. Thoughts?

I vote cool and funky for the patent leather and the Mary Jane style. To me, the only parts that might be old ladyish include the chunky heel and perhaps the texture on the belt buckle--it's hard to tell. If you plan on wearing the shoes with pants, I think that helps to negate the clunky heel. At least, that's what I tell myself when I wear my 2" pumps.

I love them for you Maya, very funky and versatile.

I love them and would buy them in a heartbeat if I knew they worked comfort wise on my feet. I would personally wear them with a crisp white shirt and belt and accentuate funkiness.

And what do you think I'm going to say?

Oh no, they're not grannyish at all!

I saw lots of styles like this in Paris department stores, so I am going to vote stylish and trendy!

Funkalicious, Maya. (Was that what you were going to say too, Angie?)

I think you can definitely incorporate them into your style in a funky way. Great find if they're extremely comfortable too...icing on the cake.

Another vote for cool and trendy! I can certainly see you incorporating them in your wardrobe. And of course, they are supposed to be super-comfy too.

Ooh I'm glad they got such a unanimous vote of approval. I'll will use my discount towards them. Yay!

Absolutely, Nicole.

They're fab, Maya. Hope they work out.

One more question...

Like I said, I'm really into the gray ones, but I wonder about versatility. These would be my only comfortable heels if they did indeed turn out to be comfortable, so I want to make sure they work across a broad spectrum. Can I wear them with black pants? I know black and brown are okay together but for some reason I don't know about black and gray. Maybe I'm just not used to it.

cute shoes!

i think black and grey would be perfect together!

I like black pants with grey patent shoes. Punchy!

Definetly go for the grey. As much as I love a great pair of black shoes, I think the grey patent is much more interesting than the black and I can imagine you could have a lot of fun with them! Not just with black pants but with jeans too.

I can also see these shoes with tights and a skirt or dress. Since I'm short I'd go with tights the same color as the shoes for an elongating effect, but I think, if I recall correctly, you have proportionately long legs, so you could probably pull off something in a funky color like purple or pink....

I've seen that look lately in mags (often with peep toe mary janes or t-straps) and it's grown on me.

I think of the grey as a neutral and am looking for a pair myself!

I hope you get them and report back on the comfort level. We know you have fussy feet and if they pass your test they are a comfy pair of shoes. The price is great and I think they will be very adorable and funky on you. The black ones are nice too, but might look a bit like tap shoes. I love Shiny's ideas about colors to wear with the grey.

Gosh, am I that old? Black and Grey is classic, Maya!

I saw this great article in Ladies Home Journal today that was all about grey clothing. There was one model wearing heather grey and medium purple--almost sherberty in hue. It looked unbeleivable. So here's what I'm picturing with your new grey shoes:

Something like this combo:

I don't mind black and gray in general...actually, I really like it most of the time. For some reason black and gray shoes just seemed odd to me though. I guess I"m just not used to gray shoes in general.

I'm with you on gray and purple. I like that combo.

Shiny, I have been fantasizing about a pair of fuschia tights forever. I don't know what the heck I'd wear them with though (that I already have at least).

Here's my review:

They seem pretty comfy and will probably feel good once I get my shoe stretcher in there (they should be fine for a normal foot though). I like them best under pants and jeans. Somehow they look much higher than they really are when the tiny heel is concealed, and they manage to make my duck feet look small and dainty. I don't know how I feel about them for dresses/skirts though. The strap is very thick and far back on the instep, which is good because it keeps my foot from slipping forward and flopping off in the back, but I don't know if I like how it looks so much. I might take a picture and put it to the jury. Also, I'm not thrilled with the substantial amount of toe cleavage I'm seeing, but I'll grit my teeth and bear it.

Overall they get my thumbs up and I will surely be keeping them.
