Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Angie's formulas are flop-proof!!

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Angie and her fabulous outfit posts...The formulas she provide will never lead you astray!
Take this morning, for example. I was having an indecisive day while getting dressed and couldn't figure out what to wear...Until I remembered her post on black and ink blue. Because of my blindness I was wary of venturing into this territory, since I figured it required a deeper understanding of colour than I have, but I decided to give it a whirl following Angie's guidelines (texture, repeating one of the colours somewhere, adding white or cream).
Results: dark blue jeans, white button-down shirt, black tailored jacket, double-strand of black shimmery beeds. Wore heeled black ankle boots that are nearly hidden by the long flaring jeans, and carried my black patent mock croc bag.
I've been at work two hours and already received three compliments. :) Thanks Angie!

One question I have, though... Is it advisable to introduce a bright into a black/ink-blue outfit? I.e. could I have worn a fuchsia top instead of the white and just added pearls?

It seems to me that a bright shirt could work but that a smaller pop of color would be more interesting, something like your shoes or handbag. Are you going to post pictures?

Sorry ladies! No opportunity for a pic today, but I'll be sure to have one taken when I inevitably resurrect the outfit!

Michelle, I love that combination and it sounds like you looked fantastic! Picture pleeeeeease?

Not only are Angie's formulas flop-proof, so are the individual items she blogs about. This week I wore the JCrew ruffle tank that Angie blogged about. Not only did I get a big fat thumbs up from hubby and compliments at work but several compliments from strangers! And the outfit was pretty simple too. Can you tell I'm very happy I duplicated?

Sounds like a great outfit! I think a small pop of color is more current than a bright splash of color so your outfit is perfect as is.
