Yesterday I attended a large family gathering in Jerusalem. I wanted to try something more colorful, like Angie's last ensemble, but quickly drifted toward the browns. #1 was my first attempt, and #2 and #3 was what I actually wore (after realizing a skirt would be more appropriate). Brown is still a confusing subject for me - I would welcome your feedback!

I’m not a brown person but this looks fantastic to my eye. I like the pants and skirt versions equally. So beautiful!

Brown is fab on you. I like the way you have brightened brown with white and grounded it with black in these outfits. The brown looks more like a color than a neutral.

2 & 3 was / is a great choice. The browns look good to me. I agree with you, brown is still a confusing subject to me too.

I think you look well put together, but I don't think I like brown on you as much as other colors.

I like it, especially the pants version. The skirt is nice too, I think the jacket makes the outfit x

Yes, I struggle with brown too, mainly due to school uniform trauma. I've found it can play nicely with certain brights and I think you could get away with a lot of contrast. The black and white works very well, but you could also try citron (a genius combination cribbed from Angie) or even an icy pastel? I like how your phone looks next to the skirt.

That jacket is awesome and your hair is looking amazing!

I am not a lover of brown in clothing but I like this:) My preference would be the skirt version as the colour of the skirt plays so nicely with the brown of the jacket. The black pants doesn't play as nicely IMHO.

I wore lot of browns 1-2 decades ago and when transitioned to black as my dark neutral I really loved the black&browns together but for your nr 1 I would have rather choosen a patterned top including them both-so not a block of white, or a patterned topper rather then a block of brown. But blocking in nr 2 &3 is really great, intentional looking, perfectly done, and yummy earthly tones together! It LF with the sunnies to it!

I prefer the mix of browns in the skirt outfit (skirt, jacket, bag), although I think both outfits are fab. I love brown, although I agree that it can be a styling challenge.

Well, I'm in a minority. Looking at the pics again, why I prefer the pants version is because of the brown lace-up boots which seem to me to bookend the jacket. And I agree with Lyn67, that a top with black and brown patterns would work even better than white. Also agree with Liz that your hair is looking particularly amazing right now:)

Brown suits you! My fave is 1, as I really like the darker tone jacket, with awesome boots. Love that jacket with the blouse.

Thank you so much for your thoughts! I should have mentioned that the pants are actually dark purple/wine/aubergine and not black as they seem to appear in the picture.

Kellygirl Thank you - I am not really a brown person either, and certainly not since I stopped coloring my hair, but I have begun experimenting in the last year or so.

Joy Interesting observation - I was initially going for the cognac lighter brown as an orange (as in Angie's last ensemble), but things didn't go that way.

Barbara Diane I agree brown is a challenge for me - if I didn't enjoy to play with clothes I probably would not bother!
Jenni NZ Thank you - the jacket is tricky but one of my favorite items - it has golden specs which are not so visible here, which make the color more interesting. And I chose the booties in the first picture specifically to bookend the color as you noticed.
Liz Ha! I was thinking I really needed to bring some blue into this - citron can make me green if it is not the right citron but that gives me another idea - thanks! (And the jacket is vintage Celine .)

lyn67 Great ideas and thanks! The pants are actually aubergine as mentioned above, but now I will be keeping my eye out for a dark purple and brown pattern - with a bit of white.
Brooklyn - Thank you and yes, navy and white is so much easier for me, but I felt like mixing it up a bit.

I’m not sure what to say about Brown. It looks good. I bet your skin colour supports Brown pretty well too.
I know grey-brown looks pretty good on me (I have medium brown hair...a warm brown) but my hair is still mostly brown.

Brown shoes and leathers I just love. It is just a little softer than black. Not very available though...

Brown is not a color I’ve ever liked or worn much, other than khaki. You wear it well.

The interplay of different browns and cream in 2/3 is great. I wonder how that outfit would work with the lace up booties from #1.

I used to wear brown a lot but it got hard to find and I started to prefer grays and black as my neutrals. I love these, especially the first look. I think it is great with the boots. I like the contrast of the warm jacket with the dark pants.

All outfits are fab. I prefer the skirt outfits and like #3 best of all. Killer. Brilliant knee-covering length and yummy black bookending with the sunnies. Nice juxtaposition seeing the warmth of the brown with the cool grey of your hair. Well done and much love to you.

I like both outfits. I preferred the second one when I thought the pants were black in the first outfit. After reading your comments that pants are dark purple and looking at the photos again, that outfit is growing on me more. I think it's also that I really like those boots. I like the mix of brown shades in your second outfit and the length of the skirt, but the black boots look a bit too dark (to my eye).

Both outfits are great, but the second one totally knocks it out of the park. All the different neutrals together look very sophisticated.

Smittie - my skin and eyes are warm or neutral, but I have always thought I suit winter colors best. Like you I find brown leather very appealing.
Fashiontern - I should try the skirt and jacket with the booties - I just need good stockings I think.
RobinF I have been wearing navy, grey and some black as my colors for a long time, but am always willing to branch out when the mood strikes.

Sara L. In person the boots are a bit softer looking (they are actually very dark brown), but I do think the color of the booties might be better. I was just excited to be going somewhere cool enough to wear them!

I really like the skirt outfit. It's very pretty. It makes me think maybe I shouldn't rule out brown just because I have grey hair. BTW, your hair is fab as always.

When I look at your personal colours, I wonder: In general, perhaps wearing ensembles in a mix of warm and cool colours would be better than wearing only cool colours?

Looks great - I think your warm skin tones go really well with the browns. I would also love to see you wearing that same jacket and blouse with charcoal gray pants or skirt to bookend your hair.

I hardly ever wear brown or tan !

The last items I ever owned in those colours was a brown bomber jacket, some leather boots and a heather brown poloneck.
