WIW to Work: photo challenge day 3

Our principal emailed all staff, saying that travel conditions across the island varied and we should use caution coming to work. She also said to consider today a Jeans Day.
Next came a text message saying that the temp in my classroom was 62 degrees. I added a black jacket to combat the chill.

1. Cobalt cable turtleneck sweater, scarf, jeans, Frye black booties, mixed metals and sea glass jewelry
2. Black Talbots jacket added
3. Storyteller bracelet from shopping with twin, sea glass toggle bracelet from daughter, gold quartz bracelet from husband
4. Sea glass ring from daughter, crucifix ring from grandmother, pinkie ring from husband
5. Sea glass earrings- a gift from my son to wear at his wedding.

I like the cobalt blue with my hair and of course my happiness pieces are the jewelry pieces from loved ones. Jeans Day was a happy surprise.

The jacket was a little snug with the turtleneck sweater under it. I usually wear a lighter weight top under the jacket. Today the hope for warmth trumped the fit.

Thank you tanstaafl, La Pedestrienne and Katerina. Today’s outfit was a change from what I had planned, but I was very happy with it. As soon as I put on the cobalt I thought, “this is a good color”. I don’t have much of it, but will keep it in mind when shopping. My family does have good taste!
The earrings from my son had made for me are in his wedding colors.

You jewellery is amazing and every piece has an emotional value - it’s simply great (for luck of a better expression). I really like how you include happiness pieces into your every outfit. I have a charm bracelet collected from I was three years old - my mother bought the first charms and then I got charms from family, friends and some I bought myself on trips or at certain special occasions, good or bad, to remember or remind myself of something important. This is a happiness piece for me. Today, there are about 40 charms. I do not wear it so often because I am afraid to loose it or to destroy it. You inspired me to wear my happiness pieces!

Thank you Angie and Fashintern. It is hard to go wrong with cobalt, cream and black. It is a happy combination.

Katerina, your charm bracelet sounds amazing! So many memories! Thinking o might have been a bit of inspiration makes me feel both honored and happy!
Some happiness pieces are precious, or may be fragile, and might only come out to play under certain conditions. I find that I really like wearing happy memories.

Rachylou, I pulled 3 scarves for consideration. All looked good, but when I put on the black, blue and white it elevated the entire outfit. An extra bonus was that it is wool and therefore the warmest.

You absolutely slayed it. But I want to give special mention to the jewelry (I seem to be noticing and appreciating accessories most during this challenge). I love the look of your bracelets together like that. And you are mixing metals and it looks so right!!!

A lot of my inspiration comes from my mother and my twin. My mother had a minimal wardrobe, but she always looked so stylish. She said that a smile was the best accessory, but that she always added two more.
My twin oozes style and to my eye, every outfit of hers is perfectly accessorized. I love to try on her looks and piggy back on her style. I do have to be careful though, because we live in very different worlds. She is a stylish city slicker and I am more of a casual country bumpkin. When I am with her I find myself making bolder style choices and being 100% comfortable wearing them. However, in my real life some of those choices just wouldn’t work as well.

Thank you SarahD and StyleFan. I enjoy giving credit where credit is due. I have learned a lot about style and fashion from others (here on YLF is one example). Both my mom and my sister can put a great look together in seconds. I learned bracelet stacking from my sister.
I am keeping warm and limiting any time outside. The dangerous windchills can cause frostbite in 30 minutes to exposed, or not adequately protected skin. No matter how well layered, it is just uncomfortable to be outside for more than a few minutes. It is much easier to stay warm and toasty at home than it is at work. Hooray for the weeeknd!
