I'm attending a conference this week, representing my company. The company shirt is a light blue polo. Here's my ideas of how to wear it - do they work?
A couple of notes:
It's always FREEZING at these - I'll need layers.
It's also steel construction industry, so it's quite casual - "business casual" is about as formal as these folks get. I try to dress a step up, since I'm a woman in the man's world, but not so far away from casual to look ridiculous. Most of the people there will be guys in jeans or khakis and polos.
I'm planning to dress a bit more 'up' on Thursday, since I'm giving a presentation. Friday can be pretty casual - everyone will be hung over anyway.
#1 with navy pants and a jean jacket. If I wear this, it'll probably be Friday?
#2-3 with navy pants and a navy sweater. But the Navy's don't match. Is that okay?
#4 with brown pants and a brown zip sweater. I'm not sure if the blue and brown go well enough that I should try this.
#5-6 with gray pants and a black cardigan. This may be my Thursday look?
#7 with a light green sweater - probably doesn't work well enough to try....
#8 with black pants and black cardigan. But I think the black pants are too short, right? Otherwise, this would be my choice for Thursday. I'll have to look to see if I have a different pair of black slacks.
What are your thoughts? Which combinations are worth wearing?
There's also a 'formal' dinner Thursday night, for which they're issuing everyone black 'tuxedo printed' t-shirts. I'll post it with some 'bottoms' options after I get the t-shirt on Wednesday, if I have the time.
