Wore this recently for a holiday party:

Sparkly Alfani bubble hem top (I now own three, these tops fit me well and do wonders hiding my belly! without having to the half-tuck/ re-tuck dance all the time)
Black velvet high-waisted leggings -- my older daughter bought these for me a few years ago when she was working at Love Culture in the mall. I wore them a few times (past Holiday seasons) as they are SUPER comfortable, happy that velvet is so in this year! Lots of stretch to make room for Christmas cookies.
Red clutch that my younger daughter bought for me when she was in Italy
Silver necklace (old, can't remember where or when I got it)
Impo pleather booties (also old)
Red lipstick
Red sparkly nail polish that my nail salon talked me into trying (I usually don't do sparkles)
Not shown: I wore a scarf that matches the clutch. Wish I could've worn my AT red trapeze coat which also matches it, but it was too cold for it so I wore my black Burberry trench instead.

Do you think I could get by wearing the Alfani top to work? If so how would you style it to tone it down? Dark wash jeans? (I can wear jeans at work).

Gorgeous outfit and your hair is just beautiful!
I think you could definitely wear the top to work, especially in the next couple of weeks. I think you could wear it past then too, maybe with a jacket to tone it down. Is it the sparkle factor that makes it seem not quite right?

This is a great look. I agree with Zibbets' assessment of how you can wear it to work. Jeans and a blazer would do it.

Perfect festive outfit. The top would certainly transition to work. Too bad about the red coat. How cold is cold? I don't have a sense of the temps where you live, but I understand you live in the city and get about more on foot? A Burberry trench sounds divine!

How sparkly is the top? It doesn't seem that sparkly in the photo, but I know sparkles don't always photograph well. While a blazer would tone it down, it would also cover the lovely sleeves. Maybe the dark wash jeans and a scarf instead of a necklace?

Oh, and I meant to say that you look lovely in the photo.

Great top - and all around wonderful outfit on you. Really works against your beautiful hair. I find sparkly or tops with 'extra" are ok for work during late Nov and December, but I stop with that in January. Just a personal thing though.

The outfit is great and yes you should definitely try the top with dark wash jeans, simple dark footwear and classic understates jewelry or a scarf in similar tones as a work outfit.

Pretty! The top is very flattering--bonus for easy to wear! I think the metallic might read more like a neutral when used in a less dressy outfit.

Fantastic look!

I really like tanstaafl's idea of using a scarf to tone down the sparkle for work. I think in that context the sparkly top would read as a pseudo-pattern, and the overall effect would be of a subtle pattern mix -- rather than all the attention being on the top, if that makes sense.

Super fab in all ways! And to answer your question, YES, I Think! (+ love your floorcarpet:-)) Ah, and I have a question, too. Are the bubble hems on the top done with an elastic or rather somehow cut like it and sraight hemmed? Lovely!

Very nice! I would absolutely wear that top for work - anything that is flattering, fits well and is no fuss is a big winner for me! It looks like a very versatile item that can be worn with anything.

Lyn - the bubble hem is elastic, but it's fairly loose so not binding or constrictive at all. These tops are self-lined, which is another nice feature as it gives them weight, structure, and I don't need to wear a silk cami underneath for additional warmth. The elastic joins the self lining with the top material at the bottom and gathers it into the bubble shape, if that makes sense.

I've tried similar bubble hem tops in the past and they weren't self-lined so they'd hang ....sloppily. Kind of saggy. Plus they'd cling to my belly and exaggerate it, rather than concealing it. The self-lining makes all the difference as the top material just glides over the self-lining and no more clinging. Also other similar tops were just too long! They'd fall at my low hip or even longer than that, then when hiked up to the waist, there'd be too much excess fabric. But this one is petite so it hangs at just right length.

This one is a PM as it was the only size left when I was stalking Macy's site for more in this style. It's more generous in the chest and arms, but only just a *tad* longer than the two other ones I have that are in PS. I think either size works for me, just throwing that out there if anyone wants to try these tops: I would caution that Alfani petites do run short -- probably not ideal for petites with a proportionately longer torso.

Of course it depends on your workplace norm, but this metallic appears more subtle and refined than most hence has great potential for wearing multiple ways.

Love this! I was looking for something like it for our casual holiday gatherings and didn't find anything. I do think you could wear it to work, especially at this time of year.

Great look from head to toe; festive and totally wearable are a great combo. Proportions are lively. Happy holidays indeed. And why not at work? Lots of good ideas here for making that happen in ways that don't scream party.
