WIW: Dressy on top

I have to go from chairing a Bar meeting to my son's last day of school picnic at a park. I felt inspired by TX Sarah today with her clean feminine style so I wore this purple Halogen ruffled silk tank with my new dark jeans.

Why do the size zippers on silk tops have to be so stiff? If I took this jacket off (which I won't) the left side will be all lumpy from the zipper!

I've had the same problem with side zippers! V. annoying!

Heather, LOL. You are the Mistress of Puns! I do love this purple, though I feel a tan is really the key - I'm going to tell my husband that fashion requires me to visit a warm climate more often. I am so excited to have jeans that fit!

Mary, glad I'm not the only one with the zipper issue. This top could really be pulled over my head - I don't even use the zipper. What do you do about it?

I often don't use the zipper, either. I feel like they bunch up and stretch and curl more every time they're zipped up or down so I don't use 'em if I don't have to.

And honestly, I try not to buy garments that are gona bug me. I've had more than one stern talk with myself in the dressing room on that topic, and I've regretted buying annoying garments far more often than I've regretted leaving them in the store.

Definitely! This is the first and last side-zip top I will buy. It was on sale, the color was irresistable, and I did not realize the zipper was going to drive me mad until I wore it tucked in. Grrr. Lesson learned.

Love that violet color on you! I agree regarding side zippers on tops - I hardly ever use them. Makes me wonder if they really need to be there. I have my eye on a ruffle tank like this by yummie tummie of all brands that is zipper free.

I think I have that same top, but mine doesn't seem to have that problem, that sucks, it is a gorgeous color though! Anyways, I love the simple lines of this and those jeans look amazing on you!! I think I would also really like this with the shirt untucked.

Aida, I do not have a light jacket - I have a weird fear of light colors that I guess I need to overcome if I'm going to survive at YLF. Plus it's still under 50 degrees here (no excuse, I know - you've been sporting some light colors and looking fab!).

Love the purple on you. I avoid aide zippers, they always get on my nerves during the day, or I forget they are there and wonder why I can't get my top on. Look at those legs, the new jeans are DIVINE on you. We are still chilly here and I am starting to think about adding a white sweater to my closet if I can find one. I want more light colors for spring, but it's still cold.

I'm with everyone else - those jeans and that top are gorgeous on you. I know what you mean about zippers, but I guess I'll just live with it because those silk shells are so great for layering under jackets...
