WIW: Black Military Rag & Bone Jacket to an Indie Concert

Yesterday I posted asking how to style my Rag & Bone military jacket in general & for a small independent concert I went to last night. Thanks ladies for all the advice. It was such an arty venue that it was in a very dodgy part of town. With gang graffiti on the ground I'm glad I chose a chunky heel bootie instead of my stilletto ones, so I could run & even though I wore my convertible clutch with the crossbody strap I felt a little uneasy, even with hubby by my side. I would normally have worn flat shoes to an event like this but tried to dress up more than usual.

It's not the first time I have been in places like that. It goes with liking independent arty bands & events. I was a little overdressed & knew I would be but dressing like everyone else would be considered too young & casual perhaps so I have been trying to step it up a little since being on YLF. Trying to be a more sophisticated rock chick or boho if that is possible.

It is not uncommon for people to wear all black at these events but I added a touch of white.

I am still interested in other ways to wear this jacket dressed up or down.

I think it looks great! Hard to go wrong with that fab jacket. Looks like one of the better outfits I've seen at those kind of shows!

So now I have to ask, who did you see?

The Dirty Three Janet. They are from Melbourne & I have been seeing them for 20 years. They still dress the same, though they don't look too young. I guess I can't still dress the same. I don't think some mens fashion is as diverse as ours. Lead guy wore a suit instead of shirt & trousers like he used to wear, not much of a change. But I could have been seen wearing a mini skirt or a slip as a dress back in the day.

ETA: I couldn't find any pics of me wearing a slip as a dress, which was all the rage in the 90s, but I found a pic of me in 1998 on my way to the Vans Warped Tour. I was wearing converse not Vans & I wasn't a junkie, that is a print of a cover of a William Burroughs book. Black bra under white tops were also intentional in my crowd.

elle...this is a cool outfit. and cool is the only way to describe it. love that jacket.

dressed up...how abt over a sheath dress and dressy boots or booties. or with a pencil skirt and silky blouse. or wide leg pants.

dressed down...colored or printed pants, tshirt and cons.

you can also pop a (faux) fur vest over it for a different look.

great versatile jacket.

I don't think I have any pics of my earlier concert-going attire, which is funny because in the 90s I went to shows pretty much 3-5 nights a week because of my radio gig (free admission, woohoo!).

Janet I was a radio producer in independent radio in Melbourne Australia so we have a lot in common, including the free admission to gigs. I don't listen to radio here & am so out of the loop so I only see bands that are old. I don't even know they are playing most of the time though.

Elle, agreed "cool" is the right word for this look. I ca t see the details of the jacket well but it looks stunning from what I can see. This jacket would be so versatile and would work with almost anything. I'm a Melbourne girl and I'm guessing which independent radio station you worked for:)

Deborah I was unpaid, as are most, at 3PBS & paid at 3MBS. I subscribed & was friends with folks at 3RRR. We have nothing like those stations here. We do have independent radio but nowhere near the same for music lovers:(
