wiw: A line front button skirt

Hi all

I got over excited and bought 2 A line front button skirts recently. This is the first one. It is dark blue and has faux suede patch pockets. I love it! It is very comfy, can be dressed up or down and has a 70s vibe that I like. And pockets. I love pockets.

I wore this outfit on a date with DH. We went to an applied arts and science museum. Bonus pics are from the Collette Dinnigan exhibit. They had a great "disco inspired" room. Sorry the photos are a bit dark but flash was not permitted. (And just so you know: we did visit the science exhibits too.)

Witchery skirt (I had it taken up slightly to just above the knee), Missoni for Target (Australia) top, Siren boots, Mink Pink bag.

Anyone else a fan of these skirts? I am seeing them here in lots of colours and trying to resist buying more. (A corduroy one would be very nice for winter...)

Any thoughts or feedback much appreciated.

Really smashing outfit! I love the bag and graphic top together. The whole look is very mod and modernist, great for an applied arts museum. The skirt looks like a perfect shape for you, I can see why you were tempted to duplicate. The illuminated mannequins with the lace are something else.

I love this skirt on you Brooklyn. I am tempted with some of the A Line skirts but am yet to go try one on. On me, I like below the knee but I think this is the right length on you.

I like the graphic top too, and the exhibition looks super. I used to really fancy having a Colette Dinnigan dress and the lifestyle too

Thanks Rabbit! The woman selling entry tickets admired my cuff then told me I must visit the jewellery exhibit and Collette Dinnigan exhibit. I think my DH was mildly dismayed. He thought we were going to spend the whole day looking at industrial era machines and space shuttles.

Thanks Sally. We cross posted. I can see this style of skirt working on you. I liked the slightly shorter length for me because it works better with my longer tops. But I like the longer length too.
And I agree with you re Collette Dinnigan. One of my regrets is that when I got married you could buy one of her dresses for a fairly reasonable price (for a wedding dress). Not anymore. Missed my chance there!

I love this look Brooklyn. It has a real 60s - early 70s vibe and looks perfect with the Missoni top and boots. It would have been lovely seeing the Colette Dinigan exhibit. She does such exquisite dresses.

This is terrific, Brooklyn! Proportions are so fresh and flattering, and the retro vibe is interesting without seeming costumey. After all the a-lines in the 90s, I'm ready to see them back, and the button fronts are a great addition to the mix.

Wow, I would have loved to see that exhibit. It looks fantastic. I know I would have spent hours there, as I am one who likes to read all the little signs describing the items on display...SO is very patient.

Thanks Manny. I find posing for the photos tricky. It is hard to look natural and to figure out what to do with your hands. Although the pockets helped on this occasion! And I think you are not supposed to smile but I look terrible if I don't! You make me feel much better
