WIW 11/17: Stripes, plaid, leopard and boots

I walked to our local movie theatre today and then did a few errands. This outfit is made up of a bunch of super fave pieces and I felt great in it!

Striped top: LL Bean
Plaid scarf: marketplace in Cambodia
Skinnies: DKNY
Cognac boots: Aldo
Black leather jacket: consignment
Leopard bag: Brahmin

Then I started to wonder... Is this "lemmingwear" stripes/scarf/skinnies/boots look starting to look dated, or does it still work? What do you all think?

Ooh! I have that outfit (or one like it, anyway!) on my Pinterest board, too! Too bad my jacket with the olive sleeves is at the tailor's getting those olive sleeves shortened!

I cannot believe you can juggle this many patterns with such ease! You rock! Not dated at all to my eye - the details are so personal to you they don't look lemmingy at all.

I wouldn't say the look is dated. I would call it classic. And the plaid, animal print definitely take the outfit up a notch to modern! Maximal for me but works very well for your style! How do you do it?????!!!!!

If this look is dated, then I will be dated all season. The bulk of my cold weather wardrobe is like this and I won't give it up anytime soon. I just adore these types of outfits.

Agree it's classic and current. Your special touches (pattern mixing and color choices) keep it fresh. If it's dated, what would replace it?

Oh, def not dated! You look so well put together. So I wonder if maybe you're just a little bored with the formula. Would it feel fresher to you if you changed up say just one of the elements? Maybe trade out tall boots for bootties, etc.?

Dated no, but I am personally very tired of it. As a matter of fact, I wore something similar yesterday and I did not feel fab at all. I changed my top to something looser and longer and it felt better. This is before I changed my top and minus the plaid scarf.

Zap, you look great, and we have the same phone case in opposite colors!

I'm actually not tired of it at all -- I love it and I felt fab yesterday. It's a nice change after living in my boyfriend jeans all summer. It was only in hindsight that I started to think that this look has been ubiquitous on all the fashion blogs and Pinterest for a few years now and maybe it's getting a little tired.

Of course, if people are still pinning it, I guess that means at least the masses don't think it's dated.

I wouldn't say it is dated, at least not in my neck of the woods. But then, YLF exposes us to new things much more quickly than I think most are.

It does look fabulous, and I love the way you rock the pattern mixing.

Ah okeys! I am actually done with breton stripes too haha. I thought you were asking because you felt off after seeing the photos, which happens to me quite a lot. I am honestly very tired of the scarf + skinny jean + boot and top combo for myself. I wore the heck out of the look. Again, I'm speaking for myself.

I love your outfit, and I think the reason it's popular is because the combo looks great! I love the plaid scarf with it, and that feels very current to my eye. And I adore the leopard bag with it!

(I do want to come over and cut the label off your scarf, though. My OCD is showing again! )

I think we THINK things are dated before they actually are, just by the fact that we see dozens and dozens of images on a weekly basis, on Pinterest, YLF, blogs, magazines.

The general public does NOT give a rats behind about style, so this look will be fresh and exciting for a long time!

I love this look! It still looks very current to me, especially in my neck of the woods. I think actually the plaid makes it very current, plaid flannel shirts and other cozy types of plaid things (like your scarf) are very popular this fall in new england. (I just bought two plaid cashmere scarves as a matter of fact!)

ETA: And it's all about the tall cognac boots. I didn't wear mine much last fall but I can't get enough of them this season.

It may not be the most fashion-forward look but it is still very current, IMO. It's also practical, fun, and let's face it - on you, super-hot!!! Your legs look miles long. Your own touches (plaid with stripes, leopard) make it exceptional, and in fact, as soon as I get a chance, I plan to copy with my own Breton stripe sweater!

Maybe Breton stripes have been worn to death but they really do look good. They're a classic for a reason. I love them on you and I love them on myself and I ain't changing' it!

Holy smokes and I say this with all the love, I feel as if one cannot longer give what can be perceived as a contrarian opinion, without feeling the "lil dibs" from the masses these days. To clarify:
A- you look awesome 'cause you are awesome. I re read my response and I saw I cut a large portion of my response out, including my compliment. I'm sorry. Def. not what an ink master would do.
B- If Anna says something is not dated, is because is not dated. She is as avante garde as it comes.
C- I have been wearing this look even before I came to YLF, along with Express Editors and other trousers. I don't want to see any of it. Same for stripes. I am fatigued of it because I wore it to death. I also wear a scarf for at least 8 months out of the year. Boo. Stripe wearers, scarf wearers, " lemming look" wearers, Editor wearers et al, please ignore me.

I hope the stripes/scarf/boots look isn't dated, because I have a striped top on my shopping list for that express purpose. I like your coordinating but not matching accessories, I think that keeps it more modern than classic.
