WIW 10/4: Magenta and coral and turquoise and snake!

It's finally a teeny tiny bit cooler today so I am busting out a fallish outfit. I am super happy with the color combination and feel like the happiness factor for this outfit is a 10+!

Purple magenta pencil skirt: Halogen
Coral silk blouse: Nexx
Turquoise cardi: Halogen
Studded distressed belt: Street's Ahead
Teal pumps: Madden Girl
Python bag: Elliott Lucca

I might add that this belt was one of Angie's picks and I almost fainted at spending that much money on a belt. But guess what? I love it madly and it totally elevates every outfit with which I wear it. TOTALLY worth splashing out the dough!! Thanks, Angie!

MaryK, you truly are the Queen of Color!
I would never think of putting that combination together, but it works beautifully, and somehow comes off as almost understated, as impossible as that seems!
The python bag and the belt are perfect with it!

That is a great mixture of colors! I love the bag and belt too......but I'm really drooling over your entire belt collection which I spy in the background. If my waist was as tiny as yours you'd be in danger of a surprise visit from me. Just sayin'!

Magenta and coral and turquoise and snake - oh my!

It is so interesting to try and pick apart why this works, when I usually only use 1-2 colors for myself. Is it because it's a tonal pink outfit with a pop of blue? Is the magenta working as a neutral? Both, maybe. Una is right; you are a mad scientist creating your formulas, and it is but our role to try and reverse-engineer them and recreate for mass production.

LOL, ladies! You are all so funny and fun!

The process of putting this outfit together was really fun so I will share it:

1. Originally I was going to wear the coral silk blouse with my beloved floral cotton pencil skirt. You've seen this outfit several times this summer.

2. Then the weather turned out to be a little cooler than expected, and I remembered Anna posting about orange and merlot as a hot new color combo, so I decided to put the blouse with the purple-magenta skirt.

3. I knew I wanted to carry the python bag because it is a great neutral and worked great with these colors. Was a little flummoxed about shoes, until I remembered how fab the pop of a third color was the last time I tried orange and magenta together, in my Stacey London copycat look. Didn't want to repeat the yellow, so I went with turquoise, which I love with orange and magenta.

4. Casting about aimlessly for a jacket. Throught about the off-white to go with the bag, but it seemed too summery. Then I hit on the distressed belt to pick up the light color in the bag, and remembered the inspiration photo from the last pink/orange look, which featured a cardigan rather than a jacket.

5. Decided to go full-on colorful, grabbed the turquoise cardi, and voila!! Teh magics! Dey happind!

Wow. I don't know how you made turquoise + coral + pink look subdued either. Thanks for letting us in on your outfit making process. It was a fascinating read.

Wowza! Only you can pull this off -- I would look silly. Glad to hear about the belt. Have wanted it since Angie picked it months ago. Kept stalking till it came down to $78 and waited for it to drop more, but it went back to $90 and has remained at that price. I'm not very good at knowing when to pounce! It looks lovely on you MK...

I just love your color combos! I have a the same purple magenta skirt and it's a bit of a closet orphan. I have a turquoise v neck sweater so I just might pair them together! (Don't have a coral blouse but your combo gives me some ideas.) Your other parings are also great.
