As I mentioned earlier, tonight I went to a Chinese banquet in honor of a recently married couple - the groom is the son of some good friends of my future in-laws. (This is pretty common in the Chinese-american community, where a couple will have a smaller wedding and then the parents will throw another banquet in their hometown and invite all their friends. I will probably have to have one after I get married as well (but thankfully I don't have to plan it; all I have to do is decide what to wear!)
Anyway, since it was quite warm today, I decided to wear my weird Allsaints black lace wrap dress. This is one of those Allsaints items that should come with an instruction manual - I have to give myself 10 minutes to put it on because I can never figure out how to tie and wrap it. I don't think there's really a right or wrong way. I am wearing a thigh-length bandeau slip underneath because the lace is pretty sheer. I've had the dress for a while now but have not had the chance to wear it until now. I think I was slightly overdressed but I really wanted to wear this dress! I paired the dress with some high grey sitting shoes (not terribly comfy but not terribly bad either), my teal pashmina (the drapiness around the neck of the dress made jackets/cardigans look weird so I opted for a shawl instead), amber pendant and my tooled leather bag (big bag because I put an extra pair of shoes in there just in case!).
I've also included more photos of my partial updo from tonight, courtesy of my lovely hairdresser Brigitte.
