I really appreciated the thought, but I didn't feel comfortable in these Forever 21 clothes that my mom gave me for Christmas--they were all too tight and not my style. They smelled a bit like perfume so I have the sneaky suspicion she bought them for herself but they didn't fit--my sisters agree that she often does the same thing with them too!

Well, a lot of you suggested I try to wear them anyways so as not to hurt my mom's feelings. Instead, I decided to look for something similar that I would feel more comfortable wearing. So I found this cardigan at Macy's--it's a very similar black and sparkly gold stripe, with an attached black scarf. And I also bought a sparkly black tank top. And some black leggings, but plain rather than crushed velvet (although I'm wearing jeans in the pics). So I have an outfit that fits and that I am more comfortable wearing, but is still true to the spirit of her gift. I would never have bought something so sparkly and blingy myself, but it's fun to try something new. It reminds me of her but feels a little more like me!

Oh, and as for the items my mom gave me--I passed the shimmery top and leggings on to my 10 year old niece (they fit better and look great on her!) and the hats to my sisters--they like to wear knit hats more than me (and my 2 & 5 year old nieces promptly grabbed them and started wearing them). So it's a happy ending all around!
