I am so so sorry, Joy, and wish I could give you an irl hug right now. Losing our beloved pets is just heart-breaking. Sweet Maggie will be forever in your hearts, but that doesn't make it any easier right now.

I do echo the ideas mentioned above, if you ever feel ready to consider another doggy. I've also met several people who, when they felt they couldn't get another dog of their own, take care of a dog during the daytime/evening hours for families or people who work long hours/irregular shifts or just want their dog to have company while they are away for several hours. (There are undoubtedly people in your neighbourhood who would love to have a "bonus dog parent" like wonderful you for their dog).

I’m so sorry, Joy.

So, so sad, just heartbreaking, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Maybe you will get back to us later with some stories of how you are managing the grief because there are so many pet loving people here. I know I dread that day with my own little doggy.

Phoebe, it is also our 51st anniversary and the grandchildren are a big distraction although they are full of questions that I’m not sure we should deal with. The month is filled with birthdays and anniversaries and dear friends are going through lots of stuff like running high temperatures and mystery infections.

I’m so sorry, Joy.

I know it hurts terribly, Joy. Hugs!

Much love and comfort to you, Joy. Feeling so sad with you.

If you would ever consider another dog, perhaps you can make an agreement with a relative or friend who promises to take the dog if you can no longer care for him/her.

Joy, I am so, so sorry. Condolences on your loss -- it is awfully hard.

I’m very, very sorry Joy.

And, when you are ready, I hope you will consider getting another dog. There are so many good dogs out there that need wonderful, loving homes like yours. And they give so much in return.

So sorry to hear Joy. Animal companions are a big part of the family.

So sorry! And I understand thoughts about whether and how pets are meant to fit in at different stages of life.

So sorry for your loss, Joy. I know how hard it is.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Joy. I'm sending hugs. <3

Thank you for your supportive comments. I doubt that we will get another dog at this stage of our lives, but they are good for us to get us moving around and walking.

Oh Joy, I am just seeing this for the first time. I am so very sorry for your loss. Sending you much love and hugs.

I'm so very sorry. May her memory be a blessing.

Joy, I am very sorry! Sending you much love and hugs.

Thank you for your thoughts. I still feel sorry and sad every time I enter the house and get no joyful greeting.
