I ordered just a few things from Nordstrom the other day - only one from NAS. The anorak ticked off all of the boxes: olive green, cocoon shape, lightweight, different look than all of the other parkas out there, fur trim allows it go casual or dressy . The price made it a slam-dunk (even with the $40 bonus duty/tax fun surcharge for being a Canadian ) AND, and most importantly, I was attracted to it right away. I have learned that my best early-in-the-season buys are those that have an immediate wow factor. I'm also really interested in Angie's idea of letting certain special early-season items provide direction for the season ahead. I think I intuitively do that, but never really thought about it until Angie talked about her shopping strategy in her recent blog post. I will be shamelessly copying the Elegant Equestrienne look for both my casual and work wear ....and am so looking forward to tucking a pair of slim jeans into high boots again. Such a clean look - and enough of booties already I'd have loved to have ordered the Aquatalia high boots too, but just could not pull the trigger on a $700 boot. I'll be looking for a less-expensive duplicate as soon as boots hit the stores!

The other two things I ordered are this pair of Mother jeans ( at least I think these are them). They are in a soft/faded black wash -and this brand was recommended to me twice in one week, but not available in my size anywhere here. The fishnet ankle socks are for a look I've had in my head for ages - seen on an instagram post. Worn with jeans and ankle boots (yes, I know what I said) with the edge of the sock purposely exposed (when seated). I kinda like that.

Looking forward to receiving my stuff !
