My 5 step plan for saving money :P

Step #1 : Surf favourite shoe websites to check out new stock.

Step #2 : Lust after three pairs of Spring shoes...keep on popping back to said websites to keep on lusting (wiping drool off keyboard)

Step #3 : Order the three pairs of shoes after much procrastinating over the fact that they aren't 'needs' and feeling rather guilty.

Step #4 : Get really excited when courier brings three large boxes and open them all up feverishly diving into the boxes like a kid at Christmas.

Step #5 : Try on shoes, strutting round the bedrooms, being observed by my bemused cat, who thinks the boxes are fun toys.....only to find that not one pair is comfy......

Have you tried making outfits with them anyway, to see if there's a colourway or style you like better than the other ?

True, Staysfit. I'll keep popping back to the websites as new stock comes in...or I might find something else I'd rather have not shoe related.

Thanks for the commiseration Skylurker..and that's a good idea. I can assess the styles and colours and make wiser decisions next time.

I'm a little worried that #1 style, which I really love, is not going to work for me either. Can you talk about what was uncomfortable about them, Diane?

Viva, #1 are the ones I was most disappointed by because they were so close to being keepers. My right foot is a tiny bit longer than my left...more my big toe really, and the right shoe didn't have enough length and depth just where my toe came. I could tell straight away that it would feel a bit squished as I walked.

The booties were a shade to deep over my instep and not narrow enough around my heels. I think I will avoid back zips from now on. I'm certain the zipper contributed to the poor heel fit. I had heel slippage as I walked.

The minty flats from Clarks were too wide around my heels and my left foot kept feeling like it was sliding to the right as I walked. I also found the ankle strap too snug even on the last hole and the angled one across my foot felt uncomfortable too as I walked.

Can you try that first one in a half size up and add an insole (or two)? I've done that before to help fit issues -- my left foot is slightly larger than my right, so I can relate. They are beautiful shoes!

Oh, too bad! They are all so pretty, but there's no point in having pretty, uncomfortable shoes that you never wear.

I feel like I have learned from this though and that is I do like the style of the ones in #1 and would go for a similar look. I will never have a back zip on boots and if I want a style similar to #3 I would try a version with laces instead for ultimate adjustment ease

That is disappointing, on the plus side you can allocate the credit as dedicated shoe money and order the next pair guilt free.

I have the exact same thing happen almost every time I order shoes online, and then I replace the guilt of not "needing" them with the guilt of all the time I spent pining over them!!

They are all really cute -but better to have ordered and found out now
so you can move on the next pairs that might work better rather than continuing to check them out online thinking they will be perfect

This is my routine nearly every time I order shoes - stalk 3 or 4 pairs, build excitement, finally order, get package and then send them all back. :-(. I'm just glad I still have a couple sandals from last year that will work this year - hoping I can get by without too many purchases this season unless it's something I really love.

Like others have said I maybe get 1 pair that work out of 6 ordered over time when I do online shoe ordering. And sometimes that one is only after trying on the first pair then going back and ordering a slightly different size.

I had one pair of booties that seemed to check all the boxes and then I tried to walk down the stairs to my basement in them and the ankle didn't flex at all, idk how I would have been able to crouch in them or handle stairs, it was kind of comical because they fit just fine walking or sitting in a chair.

My cats are determined to get into the shoe box before I can even lift out the second shoe, it's quite a struggle.

Thanks for all the commiserations and wise words ladies.

I know for those of you who prefer going into actual shops you may be thinking why risk online ordering, but over the last 2 or 3 years I have found it to be my best bet. As I live in the UK I can get delivery from several companies that sell Euro brands and I've found that a Euro size 37 is closest to my foot size as it is a smidgen larger than a UK 4 and usually spot on. Plus some Italian, Spanish and German brands seem to 'get' my feet. I still have to try a selection each time I buy, but I've definitely had more success than B &M stores.

Una, I did mention higher up the thread, but in case you missed it the snake shoes pinched my big to on my right foots, due to differing feet sizes. They are by a brand called KMB...Spanish I think.

I can see why you lusted after these shoes - all are incredibly cute. But uncomfortable shoes are the pits and you were wise to return. I have the same problem you do with Clarks - they seem to run wide in the heel and the slippage (in my left foot too) drives me crazy. So it's them, not you
