Me and My Shadow (style comparison)

Thought it would be fun to post a side by side comparison of my two style personas...the dark UWP side and the bright colorful side. Previously I always thought of my dark side as my shadow style, but now I can't tell which of them is my primary style anymore...I think they both are! Both sides are ladylike and polished and matchy matchy, but one side is a little more floral and pretty and the other side a little tougher and more badass. I dress according to my mood, whether I'm feeling more whimsical or edgy. Anyone else have a dual style persona?

Wow -- your personae are all so cool!

If I have more than one, it's that one aspires to be stylish and one is more "I give up."

Beautiful outfits! You look fab in those dresses especially! I think the edgier style fits you more. Perhaps I'm biased because that is more my style. I have many personna (boho, sporty, casual), but I'm in the middle of changing my wardrobe - getting more modern trendy pieces along with classic staples like a moto jacket and dressy nude heels. My favorite purchase this year has been OTK black boots. Wish I could wear them everyday my riskiest purchase that I love has been Ariat cowboy boots. Super comfortable, and they look great with skinny charcoal jeans or shorter skirts with tights. I'll try it with dresses when it gets warmer.

I love your post! Style is so much about how we feel or want to feel. There are times when one wants to be edgy, or colorful, or approachable, or authoratative, or creative. You demonstrate that so perfectly! They are both you and there's a place for both sides. There are common elements and silhouettes in both sets. You rock!

I like and can identify with multiple style personalities (wearing a pale pink v neck and black leatherette jeans today.)

And for some reason I'm reminded of that old Stevie Nicks song "leather and lace."

Looks like your two personas are starting to overlap more, fun! Overall your ladylike side feels most prominent, even in your shadowy-er looks. I also see a smidge of boho peeking through. Looking fab Natalie ^^

I appreciate both (all?) sides of your style, Natalie. As you said, your UWP side still has some polish and elegance to it, which is what keeps the consistency of you in your outfits. I miss your hyper-matchy looks! And I still covet those floral pants.

Interesting that your two styles are meeting more and more in the middle, so to speak. Becoming one.

I can't remember if I ever identified a shadow style. Preppy, tho, is always a little devil sitting on my shoulder.

Yes there is definitely consistency between your two sides - and both look fab. I feel like I go between colorful patterns and more minimal neutrals too, but my RATE self ties them together as your polished self does here.

This is such an interesting concept! The last time I grappled with this conundrum I think I identified at least four distinct personae, so I'm impressed with anyone who can narrow it down to two. I've since been wondering if it isn't easier to think in terms of yin/yang, masculine/feminine, austere/eclectic etc.

Whatever. You look fabulous, consistent, and very much yourself.

I'm definitely eclectic, so all over the place except preppy and maybe sporty.
I see pretty in many of the badass and vice versa. Maybe your style persona is becoming pretty-tough

regardless of your persona, there is something very refined about the way you put yourself together. #13 is the most different, but Gosh - I LOVE it!

I think there is great power in dressing to suit your own mood -- to make yourself happy. I think that's a good part of the reason your looks have such consistency, alongside the variety.
