Matronly sweater rides again!

Well, here's another go with the much maligned sweater! Not that I love it that much - I just thought I would challenge myself to try it again. I paired it with grey slacks and a structured dress shirt (Pink Tartan Newport twill shirt that I got for 70% on eluxe.ca).
Close up (upside down) is the little python belt I got at Joe Fresh.

I love the color of the sweater. If you have skinny black pants or cigarette pants, and wear them with the top untucked, I think it would work.

I don't know. The color is pretty and it has potential, but still a bit mumsy.(I'm 54. I get to point that out) Something. Maybe over a slinky black dress with high heels? Maybe one more open button on that blouse and some kind of chunky jewelry? Possibly over skinny black pants and black tank with some funky jewelry.

I love the color of the sweater, too.

One of my go-to (casual) formulas is a slim outfit (skinny jeans or cigarette pants as dianthus suggested, a camisole with coverage or T-shirt) + a long sweater. Something like the example in the photo below. It is more cozy than formal (compared to the outfit you show). I am not sure if you are trying to figure out a way to wear this to work or just to wear it, but if the latter, cozy or casual may be the way to spin it.

I agree with the others - this might work better with a slimmer, more casual pant and an untucked blouse. Pretty color on you!

I love the color on you. I feel like the collar of the button up shirt is fighting with the collar of the cardigan. Maybe try a fitted blouse and straight leg or skinny trousers would be better. I love the snakeskin belt too!

As others have said, I love the color of the sweater.

I think it has potential, but it still looks a bit matronly as styled. I love ClaraT's recommendation. Could you pair it with a feminine tank, maybe one with bit of lace, and some black skinnies? If that feels too body con, maybe some cargo pants? I wonder how it would work paired with the tank and some camo skinnies with moto boots?

Can I suggest dark skinny jeans, flats and a simple top like a black or white boatneck? With flat shoes of some kind - like an animal print? I find the collar of your dress shirt competes with the neckline of the sweater. I think you can carry the sweater for sure, it's just that it's a challenge to style.

TBH, I find the grey trousers more matronly than the sweater. I agree with ladies about about trying it with some more fashion forward trousers.

Have you tried the sweater with a pencil skirt or dress?

The colour is beautiful on you; don't give up on the cardie yet.

Maybe with black skinnies, a black turtleneck, and tall boots? Great color on you. I like the belt!

It still looks a little "boxy" to me. I'd like to see it with a slim column underneath - black or navy?

I think the idea of trying this with a slimmer bottom is a great idea - dark wash skinny jeans or a slim black pant would be great. The color is so pretty on you!

Okay, to take an entirely different tack, this looks to me like a sweater that would prefer to be dressed up. I think it would be stunning over a white sheath dress, with a clutch and heels. Or a black dress, for that matter.

The color is great and it's workable I think too. I'd try it with a charcoal grey silky or dressy fitted tank untucked, black skinnies and silver jewelry and strappy black heels.

Hi Nicole sorry I'm just not a fan of that cardi. The colour is lovely on you but I think it is the ruffles that make it look a bit mumsy. You are wearing a simple classic business casual outfit & the cardi doesn't quite work. Maybe as others have suggested a monochrome look - skinnies & a T with matching shoes might work with a statement pendant that echoes the cardi colour.
