Well here is the perfect storm! I really love Tory Burch and have been drooling over her Fall 2013 collection (I even did a homage outfit here). So I finally found this Tory Burch outfit on sale and copied the ENTIRE outfit from their catalog model (16-17). These items are all Tory Burch (except my Kate Spade clutch). Beetle print blouse and sweater and dragonfly necklace and pumps. Is this too over the top (or too schoolgirl twee) to wear to work? I could NOT resist these gorgeous blue calf hair and satin pumps with a gold dragonfly on the heel! They are like a work of art! I wish they were an inch or two shorter, but for their heel height they don't seem too bad comfort-wise (sturdy heel and Mary Jane strap). I've been searching for the perfect pair of blue pumps--could these be it? But since these 4 inch heels are only for office days, I also got a pair of teal snakeskin ballet flats for MOTG and on-call. Much more practical and comfortable but still matchy matchy! What do you think? Rip off the tags, or am I insane?

I really like the idea of this, Natalie, but I have concerns on the skirt fit. It looks like it is bunching and pulling at the pleats a little. Is it just from the blouse tucked in?

The dragonfly shoes are cute, but 4" - yipes. I really like the flats!

Whoa, matchy-matchy nirvana! I really like ALL of it. The heels are spectacular with the dragonflies but I'm not 100% sure they are work shoes just because they make such a statement. Of course, I have no idea what Drs. wear these days--unless they are male, near or over 60. The teal really suits you. YLF!

Ceit, I think I was rushing and wasn't paying attention to the skirt, it is twisted and I didn't smooth down the blouse and I didn't remove the threads from the pleats completely. 4"--that would be my highest pair by far. I know, why couldn't I have had a 2" baby dragonfly! If it weren't for the dragonfly I wouldn't have bought these but I couldn't resist.
Kelly--I know, I am known for being a fashionista at work but I'm wondering if it attracts too much attention to have these insects all over my clothes and shoes. Is it TOO fashion-y? I would be kind of sad to break up the set, though. I agree, teal is one of the colors that works well on me, so that's why I was attracted to this outfit.

Ok, I love the skirt with the blouse. I'm not sure I love it with the sweater though. Maybe it's just too matchy matchy for me, but it's reminding me of some insane prepster's tennis outfit with the sweater. The sweater reads too preppy or schoolgirl to me, I think, while everything else is more sophisticated and luxe.

The dragonfly shoes are SO COOL. But yikes, four inches! I'm really conflicted about them because I really like them and think they are so unique, but can't imagine where you'd ever wear them.

Yay on the flats for sure though.

Oh my gosh - is this ever fun! And the color is beautfiul on you! The shoes are just so whimsical - I can see why you fell in love with them. You look soooo pretty! I think that perhaps for work, I'd delete one of the matchy-matchy items - the necklace? the shoes? the sweater? I don't know for sure - but to me it's bordering on crazy dragonfly lady. (Now, for outside work - I'd play up the matchy-matchy as much as I felt comfortable with! After all - it's your style - and your choice - if you are having fun with it, go with it!)

I agree with Diana (and had this exact thought while looking at the pictures) -- I love the blouse and skirt, but for me the tipping point is the sweater. I think that takes it over the top to crazy schoolgirl, while without it, the look is A LOT more sophisticated and lovely.
The shoes? *sigh* I'm afraid I will be an outlier here and say the flats do nothing for me, and the heels are amazing. If they are wearable and not overly expensive, I would go for them. They are so, so, so beautiful.

I love your matchy-matchiness and I love all things insect. I am not *entirely* in love with all 3 pieces together (meaning skirt, shirt and sweater. The shoes are awesome and would go with many outfits). I feel that the sum is not greater than the parts, in this case, and that I might enjoy the separates better separately. I'm not in love with the cut of the skirt on you so if you going to break up the set that would be the one I would let go, I think. Although one top/one bottom makes more sense, as a bug-lover I would have a hard time giving up either the blouse or the sweater (of which I far prefer the back....)
Sigh. This is a tough one, but I don't feel the overall effect is reaching the heights of matchiness you have shown before.

I love matchy matchiness and insects, but I think the sweater & skirt together are a little overwhelming. I love the blouse & skirt, I love the close up of the sweater & blouse (in 2 & 3), I even love all three together from the back (the sweater has a different print on each side?) but my eyes get a little tired in 1. That being said, if you're a doctor, you'd probably be wearing a white coat over it, yes? In which case the prints would be broken up a little/have a solid frame around them and might read differently. I'll leave the shoes up to you, because there's no way I could even walk to my car in 4 inch heels, no matter how gorgeous they were.

If it makes you super happy though, just go for it! I really love your style, and if anyone could pull it all off together, it'd be you!

What Diana said. It's all great but together it's A LOT. I love your Kate Spade matchy looks but somehow they are more refined. The heels are AMAZEBALLS though I couldn't wear them for one second - can you?

This bug print is so much fun and such pretty colors- it does seem perfect for you. I really like the skirt and blouse together (provided the skirt will stay straight), but the sweater with it is giving me pause.
I do adore the mixed prints on the sweater, but there's something about the style of the sweater that "bugs" me. (haha- pun wasn't originally intended).
I think the neckline bothers me- it comes up so high under your chin and then the blouson front of it just doesn't seem to do you justice.

Oh, those shoes! I can see why you fell for them- they're so gorgeous! If you can actually wear them they're fabulous, but I don't see those as being shoes to wear to work, and if not that, will you actually wear them?
The flats are fabulous, so there's no question in my mind that you'd wear those a ton.

I don't think you're getting the flapper vibe of pic #17, tho, but the more proper, wifely look of the left pic in #16. I don't know if that matters to you...

The skirt and sweater together is like a 2 piece dress. I like it. However, if you are going to wear those 2 pieces together, I would NOT wear the necklace OR the shoes with it. That takes it over the top in my eyes. The blouse doesn't bother me, because it's barely showing at all. You could wear that blouse or a solid blouse. Either way.

I vote return the high heeled pumps. They are VERY high for your lifestyle. Love the flats, sweater, skirt and blouse.

Seriously though, since I'm always on a budget, I always think, if I could only have one piece, and have maximum impact, what would it be? For me, I'd choose the blouse. You could wear it with a grey pencil skirt and your ink blue blazer from WHBM. Think about it. Do you look your bee blouse any less because you don't have a matching skirt, sweater, two pair of shoes and necklace to go with it? Then you could ask yourself, what else can't I live without? And so on. Those flats are pretty awesome, I have to say!

But if you decide to get it all, you could certainly build a whole dragonfly capsule that would mix and match, and that would be super fun!

This is blue heaven and I love the matchy-matchy and think you should wear it all together. I think you should keep a picture of the pumps and stare at them lovingly from time to time - but return them. This is hard for me even to type but I've had to learn to take the hard line on this and am not afraid to pass it on!

ETA: I think the shoes might tip it slightly into too matchy. There. Now I feel better about telling you to return them.

I was going to say exactly what AM said, to take a pic of the dragonfly shoes -- as art -- and then return them. Realistically, four inch heels are sitting shoes at best. They are super cool, however.

I'm not completely sold that the sweater (front) is 100% your style in terms of the cut. Would you post a pic without the blouse underneath but with the skirt, assuming you would also wear it that way?

But otherwise, the blouse, skirt, flats, and necklace are a big thumbs-up!

I haven't read any of the other responses, as I don't want them to color what I'm thinking. That being said: I love all of the pieces individually (those shoes are to die for!), and I even love most of it together. I'm just not a fan of the sweater with the skirt. It looks a bit like an old time-y bathing suit. That being said, I think the sweater would be aces with skinny jeans and the ballet flats

I am not necessarily a fan of the overly matchy look for myself, but if anyone can pull it off, it is you, Natalie. You look fantastic, although I admit to liking the blouse with the skirt as opposed to the sweater.

The dragonfly heels are TDF, but very high. Well worth it if you will wear them, but consider how often you will reach for them. I am surprised you did not get the beetle print smoking loafers instead of the regular flats!

Thank you all so much for your wise advice! I agree with you all, something didn't feel exactly right with the outfit and I think you are right that the sweater isn't exactly my style--I think I look better with V necks rather than high crew necks. Also the sweater outfit isn't as sophisticated as I'd like for work. I found some other pieces on sale at Tory Burch and am ordering them to try to see if they might work better than this sweater and skirt combo. One is a teal leather midi skirt, and another is a teal V neck dress. I could wear both with the blouse. I also am going to try a beetle T-shirt instead of the beetle sweater.

The beetle smoking slippers are cute, but I think loafers are a little too masculine for my style--I tend to do better with ballet flats and pumps. Did you guys see these iridescent green smoking sllippers though? Someone needs to get a pair of these (Una?)! I think I'm going to keep the dragonfly pumps, and just bring the ballet flats along with me on those days for when I have to walk a lot. I really really like dragonflies--I decorated DD's nursery with a dragonfly theme. I know the height is not the most practical, but they are the one piece that makes me the most happy/excited--if I only kept one it would be those!

ETA: JAileen, gorgeous dragonfly bag! Will have to investigate!

That leather skirt is totally you Natalie, and reads very sophisticated! It will look perfect with the blouse. The dress is gorgeous, and the T-shirt would be perfect for MOTG. Funny, I feel the same way about smoking slippers as you do. Considering your love for the pumps, I think you made the right decision to keep them. Sometimes an impractical item steals our heart and it is not a mistake (Okala pumps for me!) so I totally get that! You can wear them on date nights too, no? Great choice to forego some of the other items. You can put together an outfit for your body and style better than a catalog stylist can.

I actually love it altogether. It is too matchy-matchy but it is sooo your style that it doesn't bother me at all. I am just a wee bit concerned that the sweater might be too long. Those models have very long torsos. Can you turn in the edge of the sweater inside a little bit? - a little trick I employ to wear my longer tops with skirts.
