K/R: ruffle shoulder dress

I went back to NAS today for a bra and came home with this dress, which I'd been eyeing since I saw the catalog Joy had posted last week.

It is definitely a winter-weight dress (good). I like the ruffle detail and how well it hangs, skimming over everything.

My question is: does it look ok in the shoulders and do you think it is work-appropriate? I work in a casual office, with lots of people wearing jeans and sneakers. I don't mind being a few steps up in the dressiness ladder, but is this too much?

I love it on you!

I love how you've styled it with the tights and booties too, and think that would work for your office, as the booties toughen it up a bit. Cool juxtaposition.

The ruffle detail with your long neck and delicate features is to die for.

It looks fantastic on you. I think it is great for work. Just be prepared to rebut any comments from overly casual workmates with thoughts on your preferred style, which you have as much right to as they do.

I love the styling here but it would also work with oxfords or pointy flats for work. And it could be worn for dinners out etc too so I think you will get lots of wear from it.

I think I have been watching too much of The Good Wife (lawyer show) and I think this purchase falls in the category of "buying for a fantasy life". It's just too far outside the environmental norm for me. The people who do dress up for work do so in a more playful, trendy, way. This feels a bit serious on me, despite the ruffles.

I think it would make a great occasion dress but I already have a couple of those.

Jenn, it is actually an all NAVY outfit. Navy works on me.

JamC: The size feels good.

For anybody who would like to know, I think the sizing is true to size. I first put on a 0, then a 2, then a 4.
The 4 fit best across hips and the 2 fit best across top, and I am normally a 4 in pants, and a 2 in tops.
