K/R: Please help me pick a pair of white skinny jeans

Hi and thanks for your help! I am trying to decide on a pair of white skinny jeans. Which of these four do you think look best on me? I am not so good at judging fit so I need some expert eyes!

1-5. Kut from the Kloth Diana size 4, 98% cotton 2% spandex. This is the brightest white. It has a subtle striped texture (#5). It feels the stiffest. It is the cheapest by far but I want to make sure whichever I pick is the best regardless of price.
6-9. Citizens of Humanity Ava size 28, 98% cotton 2% elastane. It is a straight leg rather than skinny jean. It is too long but I can get it hemmed for free. This one feels the most like true jeans. I like the pocket decoration the best.
10-13. J Brand Skinnies, size 28, 70% Tencel, 28% cotton, 2% elastane. This one is the softest and thinnest. They feel almost like leggings and I'm not sure if I want that. These give me the least muffin top of all of them, but feel the stretchiest so I'm worried it may bag out. Plainest pocket. The SA thought this one looked the best on me, but actually I think I like it the least because it's a little too smooth and clingy.
14. Comparison of the color of the three jeans--Kut is the whitest and J is the yellowest.
15-17. Paige Skyline ankle crop jeans. They didn't have this size in white, so I tried on a floral version instead but the fit should be similar. I felt like the rise was a bit low, otherwise it seemed OK. I can order this online in white if this is the best one.

ETA: Do any of these look like better options? I tried to pick mid rise jeans.

Natalie, I hope you don't mind me being honest here - I don't think any of these are it. From these pictures your lower half looks similar to mine. I wear those exact same sizes generally in those brands, although I don't wear COH or Paige any more. COH are always too low and tight in the waist on me and appear that way here. The Paiges look too tight as well to my eye. And the Kuts just aren't that flattering. I'm not liking any of them in the crotch area which is always even worse in glaring white.

SORRY! White denim is really difficult according to most members here.

I would keep looking. My Gap white jeans ended up being the best fit, although they turned out to be a style mistake for me.

GP, I'm deferring to Una here as I really am an ignoramus about white jeans. And to my pear-shaped mind (?) you look pretty good in all of these. But Una has similar pants-fit to you so I would listen to her and see what else is out there!

I know it was just for reference but you look amazing in the floral jeans! Do you own a pair? If anyone can and should do floral pants, it's you!

Yes, the floral jeans look great!

And Fruitful should not defer to me! I am not an expert on white, quite the opposite. But I am trying to look only at fit. And I could be in the minority because I've become super-picky about denim issues lately.

This was last year and I got the white bootcuts that I think Kelly and some others have. I have yet to wear them. But perhaps New Orleans or Hawai'i should be a testing ground.

Do you get Lucky magazine? There are florals in there TDF! But why is everything they feature so EXPENSIVE? I don't need a $2000 floral jacket! Well, I do but please.

Una, I'll have a look around but browsing the Gap/ON website I don't see any white skinny jeans there. I do already have a pair of white bootcuts but I want a pair of white skinnies because I am hemming the bootcuts for heels and I want something to wear with flats.

I'll look at the Lucky mag again! I know, floral pants are all over the mags now, aren't they? Although I haven't seen many people actually wearing them IRL.

I agree with Una - I think the front (crotch) doesn't look great in any of these pairs I hope you can find a pair that you like!

I would keep looking. All of these would br fine with a tunic but nothing shorter. I like how the florals fit. Can you see how they camouflage any bumps? But I don't like the print. Do you? Thanks for doing the due diligence. I would love a pair of white skinnies, and you know I have the same issues as you!!

Unfortunately I agree with what was said above, the fit isn't stellar. I remember how those snake-skin jeans fit you so much better. Good luck with whites! I had a pair of white bootcuts I altered into a strait-leg for more versatility with heels.

Natalie, if you're asking which of these four pairs, and only these, looks likeliest, I think my answer is #1 in terms of fit. I have to say colour-wise I like them least, but I may have a case of poison eye for bright bluey-white jeans. I like the subtle striping of the fabric myself; but do the stripes lie straight and true on you? That would be an issue to me.

The J Brand is entirely too clingy, and there is little point in jeans that need shapewear to disguise your shape under them! Go with those ONLY if you plan to cover up to the crotch in longer tops or tunics!

My argument against the CoH, whose colour I like best, is that the pockets seem to be sitting too low for you. A little higher or a little smaller and they'd have been good! I'd have suggested moving the pockets up if there was space, but the back yoke is sitting too close to the top of the pockets anyway. Otherwise, I quite like the shape and fit on you. However, question: did you not say you were looking specifically for skinny jeans? Why the straight leg then?

Hi Natalie - I agree with the others about those jeans. I'd keep looking. I tried the KK's, too, and wasn't happy with them. I currently have a pair of JCrew high-waisted white skinnies that I'm pretty close to cutting the tags on. I might post them as a K/R later today. Just another option.

I'll be watching this thread closely Natalie - personally I'm not going to be looking for white skinnies, but I am going to be looking for white boot cuts or straight legs once I'm off SYC. I don't think as a short apple, white skinnies will do me any favours.

The floral jeans are incredibly cute AND incredibly cute on you! I'd seriously consider adding them to your MOTG capsule.

Now for the white skinnies: if you had to choose from one of these, I think #1 might be the best of the lot. If you can continue to look, I'd prefer that for you. You probably already know Angie's advice about sizing up in white skinnies.

I'm a pear, and I have trouble wearing my own white skinnies (a lifetime of putting dark colors on my bottom half to minimize it!), so I can't give any personal brand recommendations, but you're getting great ideas from others here. . .

I was at Target last night for some kids' stuff and tried on their white skinnies. Stay away! They are thin as paper!

I haven't worn white jeans since I was a teenager, so I can't be of much help, except to say that none of the white jeans shown in the pics look like they fit properly. If I were you, I'd keep looking.

I agree regarding the white pants, I don't particularly feel positive about any of them. I have the Diana's , but like all my skinnies and jeggings, I go a size up and take in the waist. They just fit me better that way. But I think it is more of a silhouette thing with you, because they don't look tight to me. The Diana's are tricky because I feel that they taper allot at the ankle ( I only wear longer tops with mine ) . You might need more of a skinny straight leg.

Natalie, I forgot to add that I also want a pair of white pants so I am going to try the Levis that Angie posted. As I peered at the photo, the leg appears to be a true straight skinny leg and not a tapered one, FWIW.

I wish I could provide some useful advice but I have concluded I'm ignorant as how these white jeans are supposed to fit. Same thing goes with the floral pants. You are such a good sport for trying things out, Natalie:)

Also, it seems as if you take your pics under direct halogen or recessed lighting. That creates a lot of enhancement as far as shadows, grooves etc. I would judge how see thru the pants are, by looking in direct sunlight.

I think I've already posted about this in the past, maybe on Rae's thread about white skinnies? I generally prefer white jeans to fit more like straight legs, vs. leans or tight skinnies. Somehow the skintight look just doesn't translate as well, IMHO, with white or lighter jeans, vs. dark or black ones.

Some nice examples, to my eye, below. The straight leg Levi's in Angie's blog post seem to fit similarly: Slim through the hips and thighs, but a bit of room so there isn't all of the wrinkling, creasing, etc. at the crotch and through the thighs, then straight through the calves. This is just my personal preference, of course :). Everyone is going to see this differently.

I have to second what Jonesy said. I think white jeans look the best when they're not too tight. That's not to say that skinnies won't work, but with them I think the key is to SIZE UP.
Angie said that in her blog post, too, I believe.

Natalie, I'd like to see some of the ones that you tried in the next bigger size. I bet some of them might work.

When I was looking at white skinnies, everyone recommended something looser and thicker in fabrication. I'm still looking! lol

I wasn't crazy about any of the white jeans but the florals were incredibly cute on you and I normally don't like jeans with that kind of pattern. They looked darling on you. As for the white....keep looking. I think that must be the holy grail as perfect fit in them is so hard to find.

it seems like the input is unanimous that none of these really work. White jeans are tough! I think a thicker white jean is better than a lighter-weight one. To me, white jeans are like tan wool trousers. You really need to invest a lot of time trying on. The best of them make you look fabulous; the worst somehow create problems you don't have.

BTW, I happened to be at the Levis store trying on their jeans last night. I have muffin top issues with most jeans and thought that the slight curve was really a good fit. I'm usually between one of two sizes, and I had to go up to the upper of my two normal sizes, if that helps. I also found that their modern cut in the slight curve was way low for me. I had to order off of the website for the mid rise. Another thing I found was that when they say skinny, they really mean skinny. For me, that meant that the bottoms of their skinny jeans were super snug on my calves. The straight cut was just enough to skim over my calves. That's what I wound up buying.

I ran out to a gap at lunch and lucked out with the white always skinnies. I sized up to a size 6 and they are perfect. No bunching.

Oy, now I know why everyone complains about buying pants. It is hard for me to distinguish these issues on my own but I trust your judgment. I returned all three to Nordstrom today and will keep looking.

Rita, thanks for the suggestion for Gap. I went to try them out today at two stores but neither of them had the right size. I tried a 4 and it was too tight, and the 8 was a little loose. But both of them were too short--like high ankle jeans but too long to be capris. So I think I would need a 6L. But I can't find the white Always skinnies anywhere on the Gap website, only the colored ones.

I may try the Levi's if I can get the time to go into the city to go to the Levi store. Thanks for the review k can shop. I'll have to check it out.
