Well - when I read Angie's post I knew what I would pull together to try out the look.
However, everyone time I go to wear my red connies...I change out of them. I feel clownish in them! Anyone else have this feeling? So, pic 2 is what I am actually wearing tonight. Too tame??

Love both versions. You look sassy and stylish and I see no clown feet whatsoever!

You look lovely in both pics. You'll have to take 'baby' steps with the cons. I know what you mean though, sometimes fashion can make us feel a bit silly. Try outfit #1 another time just for an hour or so, get groceries or something easy like that, and then see how you feel about the look. You may still not love it, and that's ok!

You look so put together in both. I couldn't wear the sneaks either; I think a combination of the two would be perfect- a cute flat in red.

I love the red in #1! Maybe the first baby step would be to start with straight leg pants to cover more of shoe (and make them look smaller)? Your eye just needs to adjust, as the rest of us don't see clown feet!

And the red converse are AWESOME on you. Do wear them. You DON'T look clownish at all; you look fun, dynamic, approachable. You've got the legs for them. And the touch of red brings the outfit to a whole other level.

Small But Mighty

Well, as with any outfit, it all depends on what you feel comfortable with and what you want to project. I LOVE the first outfit and find it way more interesting than the second one. But it doesn't work if you feel "off." And I think the first one communicates that you're funky and daring and kind of artistic. If that doesn't sound like what you want your clothes to say about you, then it's not going to work for you.

(But if it IS what you want to say, then I wish we were in the same city to go grab a glass of wine...)

I think version #1 has a lot more attitude, flair and spunk. I love it! But #2 is nice too :).

Love #1 -- you look so cool. And yes, they are "you." Perhaps another side of you needing to express itself? I wish I could pull of Cons like that but somehow they never work on me. I know, it's so sad.

I really like that suggestion from Misvee -- the sensitivity training approach to taking new style directions!

I think they look fun, not clownish. I have my eyes open for a pair actually. Some some grey felt ones today, but didn't bite. I was getting too tired for shopping.

I like the outfit with both shoe choices with a small preference for #1 as more spunky. Your eye just needs to adjust.

I agree that both looks are fab. I hear you on feeling a little self-conscious about the cons. Sometimes it's hard to be fashion forward (especially if others around you are playing it safe).

Just know that you can definitely pull off #1....take some baby steps and soon you'll be wearing the cons with confidence.

Such great feedback! I will try them - a small dose at first as MissVee,Cocolion and NancyLee have suggested, or with maybe a bootleg as Donna mentioned. Then I'll grab a leopard bag (nod to Angie and meet up with SmallbutMighty and all interested YFLers at a funky litlle bar!

You carry this off beautifully! I prefer the Cons but I hear you. I tried my Cons (well very similar to Cons) on last night and I felt just like with the words clown like coming to mind immediately:). But they really don't look that way at all. I wore mine today and was surprised at how good the outfit felt with them. This is a great look on you, hope to see more:)
