I know this board is FILLED With people who like to count, analyze and dissect. (Awesome! I do too!)

I also know that this board is filled with people who are very health-conscious.
(Yup, that's me too.)

So if you fit into either of these two categories, you will likely be interested in Orange Theory fitness, if you haven't heard about it already. (It is very trendy!)

It's a whole body fitness class that incorporates cardio and strength training. Everybody wears a heart rate monitor and you can see your heart rate (and those of others) on the screen above. The idea is that you want to keep your heart rate in the orange zone most of the time (not the green or red zones).

I loved the class so much, I'm giving up yoga and spinning for it.

Here are some of the things I loved most:

- Watching your heart rate means you don't go too hard. This has always been a problem for me: I go too hard the first class and then give up. In the orange zone, I was uncomfortable but I wasn't dying.

- you won't die. (Which is not how they advertise it, btw. They advertise it as an "insane workout" but it's not.) With other exercise classes, it's hard not to look at others around you and want to put on more weight or go faster or really suffer and want to die, or else feel a bit embarrassed that you can't do the workout. With this class, you just make sure you're in a slightly uncomfortable orange zone and you don't compare to others.

- The lighting is great. It is sort of a darker orange lighting, which is so much nicer than oppressive gym lighting.

- The treadmills have fans on them! A really nice feature!

- You get a balanced workout. I find so many workouts are either too strength-oriented or too cardio-oriented. This has both. (I think cardio is very important even though is has fallen out of style these days.)

- jogging/walking on a treadmill is actually not boring. While you're on the treadmill, you have to listen to the instructor who is constantly telling you to switch up your pace and incline. Between all her commands and monitoring your heart rate on the screen, you don't have time to get bored. The 60 minutes zipped by. I was never thinking, "Please, can this be over?!".

-they track your progress for you and send you an email with a workout summary! I love tracking and seeing progress, and it's all taken care of for you. It's great for people like me who are really not that self-motivated

- If you can't do the tread mill they offer a glider or bike, which I might do next time since I have a bad knee.

In my workout summary below, you can see I was in the green zone a lot, but that's because I went on a "strength day" with a lot of weights, and you're not supposed to get into the orange zone when doing the weights.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited about this workout, which feels sort of "moderate".

If you find yoga too easy and other exercise classes too hard, you might like this Orange Theory Fitness class.
