Colors for this waistcoat?

I decided to try this vest:

It fits well, although it is quite cropped. But I'm having a hard time working it into my wardrobe. I don't want to have to go out and buy more clothes to wear with it. Ideas for colors and styles to wear underneath? I'd mostly want to wear it with jeans or skirts. There's another DVF waistcoat I tried that I like a lot and would look good with black underneath I think but it's not on sale so I'd have to save my pennies for that one.

That's a lovely vest Patience!

I think it's very versatile and you could wear a lot of things underneath. In terms of colors: white, black, grey, pink, purple, teal, emerald green, yellow, or a well chosen print like on the model. In terms of shapes: button down shirts, blouses ( ruffles and tie-neck details especially), turtlenecks, simple knitted tops ( tee-shirts).

Depending on your own colouring I would say, light gray, light blue,black, fuchsia, white.

I think you ought to save your pennies for the other DVF one. I can really see it fitting in better with your wardrobe, and it seems like it could be more versatile for you. Plus, it was an 11 on the CRS scale.

Yes, Sarah, I'd like to do that but it is quite expensive. San, this is the best picture I can find and it's not very good:

The front is a green tweedy material and the back is a small really colorful silk print. I could definitely see wearing this with a black button down and oxfords. That's what I have in mind but I'm going to have to save for a while.

The DVF vest is gorgeous. I love it. I don't care much for how the website works. I didn't fnd a way to see the back. The price makes me want to sew a vest for myself. There is one great example of how the cost of the materials is far lower than the cost of the finished item. I might just make a vest and use that one as an example while looking for patterns. How did you get to see the back?

Patience, Sarah and I were shopping and we saw the DVF vest in person at this little boutique-y place we stopped in.

The printed silk back is really what elevates it above a regular menswear vest, because it looks good coming, and then it's stunning going. It's like a little mysterious secret you don't realize is there until the person turns around. And of course Patience looks *amazing* in it. It's too bad the site doesn't show the back of the vest. Hopefully this will mean people won't realize how neat it is and won't buy it, and there will be plenty left to go on sale!

I think it's really odd they don't have a view of the back online. I mean if you decided to order it (I can't find anywhere else online) and hadn't seen it in person, you'd be in for quite a surprise.

Other than not being able to see the back I was very impressed with the DVF line for fall. Wow!
I must say I was really disappointed last spring in what I saw. I was not crazy about all the tribal prints and baggy dress designs.
