Hi Inge.
I did know about email notifications, but that’s not quite what I was asking about. Although email will notify of a topic reply or topic someone follows if they chose to receive emails, it still will not pinpoint who the reply is geared to (original poster or just a topic reply) It also does nothing to quote particular members and notify them specifically.
For example; let’s say I want to quote something you wrote as a reply.
Inge: You look fab is the best forum!
The quote would look like: Jess quoted Inge “You look fab is the best forum!”
Jess: WOW Inge great reply!
In this case you would normally get an email notification that I quoted your post so you know the reply is for you which means no more missed replies.
If I tagged you @Inge you would get an email “Jess tagged you in a post”.
Email notification is unreliable if someone doesn’t check email often, or forgets to log in which happens more than you’d think! When you get a private message here you see a red dot which visually is attractive and makes you want to check the message. If we got that for tagging a member they would finally have a quick and easy way to see a notification instead of having to constantly check email; an extra step many of us don’t do daily.
I used to take computer, web design classes and I remember the golden rule of running a site is to keep it easy, effective, bold, and have your clients (members) have quick ways to stay in touch because people are busy and with technology advancing people want things to be easy.
What I’m saying is this site could use a bit of an upgrade and that would attract more members.
Whether or not Angie and Greg decide to do upgrades is up to them, I just think it’s something that had to be mentioned to consider for the future.
