Thank you for your replies to my question. I'd thought it was my body type (used to be apple) and gravitated toward side zippers to avoid the problem. But now that my body has changed and I still have the problem, I didn't know what to think. It sounds like better quality clothing is the answer.

The only thing that I can come up with is the quality of the zipper if your pants aren’t too tight?

I don't know about the zipper thing, but congrats on the weight loss! That is quite a dramatic change. You must have worked hard for it. Very impressive.

Thanks, sans, I didn't know that about locking the zipper and will try to be more aware. I consistantly have the problem with some Eddie Bauer and LL Bean pants. I recently got some CK jeans that did the same thing, thus prompting this post. Others like Gloria V's and NYDJ's, which actually are tighter, don't do it. I'm a rectangle figure-wise, but a former apple.

Has this happened on several pair of jeans for you? If you are talking about it happening on one or two pair, I would say it is a defective zipper and should be returned. When the zipper pull is turned to the down position it locks the zipper from going back down again until you lift the pull up and unzip.

Does anyone know why sometimes a front zipper on jeans or pants will not stay zipped after you have worn the garment a few hours? I have recently gone from a size 14 to a size 4, and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Nor does it seem to make a difference as to how tight the jeans are.
Does it have something to do with the rise? Help!
