Janet, I am obsessed with these trousers on you!!! I think it would be hot with a high neck halter blouse. I dig the black with it, but here is an idea of the type of blouse:

SO good to see you wearing these! I love them on you just as much as when you tried them on in the store. I vote for #2 untucked because the casual look of the pants just seems to go better with an untucked look.

These are very lovely and dramatic on you Janet! The tucked in top gives emphasis to the tummy, and the untucked more to the hips, so I vote to untuck. I think your hips are great, so show them off! Did you try with a flowy tank or hi-lo shirt? I bet those are good too.

My goodness me, Janet! If I had legs and hips like yours, and just a few more inches of height, I'd TOTALLY be wearing those pants in *and* out of the house all summer long; I might ever wear them to shreds come fall. I'm *still* tempted by palazzos in the stores now.

You look beyond awesome. Believe it! And the print and colour are fantastic. Also, I rather like how tucking a black top is creating a tabbed look with the waistband --- most intriguing, though a drapey tank or sleeveless cowl-neck top would be fab too. Or a vest-as-top...

Janet: I was just thinking, "She's an artist -- she has the perfect life for these pants." I know this style can be tricky, but I think they're a lot of fun. I love the way fabrics like this move and flow, too, which is not captured on film. Wear and enjoy! I like Jonesy's idea of a looser top, or maybe a looser, semi sheer blouse, tied or semi tucked?

Oh Kyle, I'm relieved it's not just me!

I love the denim jacket idea, as well as Anna's tank idea and the other top suggestions. I have some welcome solo time here at home for the holiday tomorrow, and the weather is expected to be unpleasant. Perhaps I'll do some experimenting!

Janet, Janet, Janet...what are you doing in my head??? I torture myself in EXACTLY the same way and drive myself crazy. Good grief.

So, on to the pants. They are NOT unflattering. They are not my most favorites, but if anyone can carry off something this dramatic it is you. My feeling about the pants definitely reflects a personal bias...I am not a big fan of wide legs...but you can carry it if you choose. Would be very chic with a denim jacket, don't you think?

Funny thing, I had a pair of vintage paisley palazzo pants in the 90s that these kind of recall. (I should have hung onto those pants, I was wearing them on the date when my husband and I first kissed :-)

One of the advantages of my casual life and self employment as an artist is that these are perfectly acceptable attire for work. I'm going to experiment with some tops and take these pants out to play. Thanks for all the feedback!

Ohhh Janet they are beautiful pants and you carry them off perfectly! I don't see them over-emphasizing your hips, but nor do they under-emphasize (make sense?). They look incredibly flattering to me. I think you could wear both tucked (could be fun with a leather obi belt) and untucked (loose, drapey tops definitely come to mind). If it helps, I would TOTALLY wear these pants

Janet, this is just my opinion, but I really prefer your other unpatterned casual pants on you rather than this pair. It's nothing at all to do with your body. It's just that this style of pant - patterned, lightweight, and wide legged-looks too much like pajamas to my eye for me to appreciate it for anything other than really casual lounge or resort wear. But I may be totally alone in being "allergic" to this look for basic casual wear! My eye has adjusted in the past and for all I know, after seeing patterned casual wide legged pants fully accessorized, I may change my mind about this look too.

I like #2 with the untucked top. These are fun and have a lovely drape to them. I don't notice any extra attention to one area on your bottom half. I noticed the drape and flowy aspect of these right away. They look so comfy to wear.

If anyone can pull these off, it's you Janet. I think they look fab with the top untucked and like Jonesy, I think flowy tops will partner best with these. I think they're a fun piece to add to a summer wardrobe and are very chic. But if you aren't loving them or they're just going to sit in your closet because you feel self conscious in them, then I vote return. No room in our closets for any orphans!
