<p>I was in Morocco in October. And it’s a feast for the senses. I think you’ll find it’s very hot in the midday hours especially when you’re out walking, so you should have a lot of extra tops, or be able to sink wash the ones you bring.

<p>Beautiful dresses! I totally believe in the metallic shoe for traveling :)</p>
<p>Appropos of nothing, I had a friend from Algeria, next door to Morocco if you will. Lilypup loved her, lol. Would jump around when we ran into her. She was feisty. Half my size and willing to fight me, lol!

<p><div><b>Janet</b> - thanks for sharing! I have a packable crossbody (a bit small for camera and scarf, though) and also a backpack (though it's black so may feel hot). Still thinking about whether to bring both. Neither is a slam dunk. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Suz</b>, ugh, sorry that happened. Thanks for the warning. The phone will stay in a zippered pocket of some kind when I'm not using it. <br /></div><br /><div><b>Angie</b> - ooooh, Greece! The colors are very fitting.</div><div><br /></div><div>We are arriving next Saturday, April 22,&nbsp; in time for Ramadan to end, and coming back May 3. A good long trip! My husband's birthday will be in Marrakech.</div><div><br /></div><div>&nbsp;And I will definitely keep a closer eye on Zara in the future. I do all my shopping online now, anyway, and will just stay out of the store. I find brick and mortar stores to never have the items or sizes I want anymore. I mostly use the ones near my office for returns. </div></p>

<p>Just a note re cards/ cash etc. -- be careful of losing your phone! My phone was in a jacket pocket in Spain. I took the jacket off as the weather got warm and the phone fell out. You can guess what happened then. It was gone in an instant. I had "Find my phone" and could track it -- but nobody was going to search for it for me. I cancelled it pronto but this left me without a phone for the remainder of my trip....and had my card been with my phone, I'd have had to cancel credit card, as well. As it was, I just deleted the phone. Much easier.&nbsp;

<p>I took a small crossbody for around-town wear, and I also have a larger convertible lightweight tote that can accommodate my camera if I wish to carry it in a discreet way. It has a detachable crossbody strap. It came in handy for shopping and for camera-carrying. Not super stylish but lightweight and doubles as a carryon for the plane. </p>
<p>I bet the currently popular waist packs would be a good choice too!

<p><div><b>kkards </b>- packing cubes are a big help! I do have a few and will likely be using them. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Janet</b> - thank you for sharing your experience. I don't really know anyone who has been, so this is very helpful. My strategy is definitely to use layers rather than bring bulky items. A utility jacket is a good idea. I haven't posted about bags but I've been thinking about it - I do have one of those packable totes. I have Apple Pay and keep a physical credit card with my phone, so I think my wallet will only contain cash for any daily needs that a cc won't cover. I won't keep any backup credit cards or my passport easily accessible.</div><div><br /></div><div>What kind of bag did you use for daily wear?<br /></div></p>

<p>Your trip sounds amazing!</p>
<p>I have been to Morocco once, for a yoga retreat in Fez. I think your packing plan is really good. Keep in mind that even though it cools off at night, it warms up quickly once the sun comes up. Our early morning yoga sessions saw us beginning with the sunrise in hoodies and in sleeveless tops an hour later. I would take light layers (a utility jacket perhaps, plus a lightweight hoodie) and leave any warmer layers at home. I find it much better to double up jacket+hoodie than to travel with a single bulkier layer. Jacket + hoodie is also great for plane wear, so they wouldn’t even need to go in the luggage. </p>
<p>I went for long breezy skirts plus tees and tanks for the most part. Comfortable sandals and sneakers for walking on the cobblestone streets of the Medina. A hat for sun coverage. </p>
<p>Keep a very close hold on your wallet. Says one with experience. It’s a wonderful place with friendly people but I guess I wasn’t as careful as I should have been and my wallet was either lost or stolen. Fortunately I was able to cancel my cards and have my husband wire money to me, and my passport was in a separate spot.</p>
<p>Oh, and I would take along a little packable bag that you can use to bring home any treasures you find at the markets there — things like leather goods, rugs, textiles, spices, decorative items are all fun to shop for, for gifts, etc. Prices are good, but be willing to haggle — the vendors do expect that.

<p>Sounds like a wonderful trip. &nbsp;<div>And yay for finding pieces that work for you at Zara! &nbsp; I especially like that blue and white dress. &nbsp;</div><div>You may already been on team packing cube, but I’m a new convert, but I really recommend them, especially compression cubes. 1st they keep everything neat, but the compression cubes allow tiny to get so much more into a small space..</div>

<p>Robin - I thought about bringing a cashmere sweater. I don’t mind wearing the sweater hoodie multiple times, though, and it can be layered over a tee better. Ditto a denim chore jacket. I am trying to keep it to my smaller carry on so I’m not sure how feasible adding heavy pieces is. I’ve been more worried about overheating during the day because I hate having my shoulders arms covered in the summer generally - though my climate is humid so the heat feels different! Low 60’s in the evenings doesn’t seem all that cold?

<p>Suz, definitely, the tops and bottoms will mostly match. The outlier is a light orange pair but I think it goes with the tops I have. The others are navy and olive. &nbsp;I definitely plan to launder as needed.&nbsp;<div><br /></div><div>Vildy and Bijou, I should be okay. It looks like temps won’t be much below 58 F and I have the sweater and fleece. I thought about Uniqlo heattech under layers but I’m only spending one night outside a town or city and don’t want to overpack for that. 58 is the overnight low, which I won’t be outside for! &nbsp;I wanted jeans - I usually wear them in transit. &nbsp; But I will driven between locations for long days on the desert trip and won’t want to wear them during that travel due to the heat. And they take up a lot of luggage space. I will definitely have some warmer accessories - forgot to list them last night.&nbsp;</div>

<p>Oh, I love that blue and green dress! I had not seen it! Darn, because I just put in a big Zara order myself, LOL.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I like the linen shirt, too -- and of course, <b>Angie</b>'s dress!&nbsp;</p>
<p>Sounds like you have an exciting trip planned! Your packing list makes sense to me and it also sounds like in these light fabrications everything will fit in carry on, even with multiple shoes. I am 100% with you on taking as many shoes as humanly possible -- this is my travel strategy, too, for foot saving.&nbsp;</p>
<p>What colours are your pants/ tops and what is the mix and match potential? Will you be able to do hand laundry? Linen would probably dry easily overnight in that climate. Ditto for tech fabrics.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hello! I swear these two topics are related. As I mentioned in Angie’s Zara thread, I hadn’t really shopped at Zara before. I was never impressed when waking in. I think I got a blanket scarf once? I liked the dress Angie got when I’d first seen it in Finds, and put in my first order. I need lightweight but covered clothes for going to Morocco in 9 days, and many of the dresses they have now seemed to fit the bill. </p>
<p><div><br />
</div><div>I was impressed! Three out of four items worked. See finds. The loser was a dress that is too drop waisted for me. I’ll take the blue and green one on my trip, as it’s very light, but I like the blue and white too. I needed a new shirt with a “coastal grandma” vibe to replace one that no longer fits well. I may take it on the trip too. </div><div><br />
</div><div>As for the trip, I am trying to rely on linen pieces or else athletic fabrications. It’s 11 nights including a trip into the desert for 4 nights - one night will be in a desert camp. The evening might get quite cool in the desert. I am thinking along these lines:</p>
<p>- 4 pants (3 linen, 1 Athleta pair that can dress up or down)<br />
-3 short sleeve tees (athletic fabric - tempted to add one but shouldn’t)<br />
- 1 long sleeve tee (athletic fabric, very light, layering at night)<br />
-2? long sleeve button downs (for layering and sun coverage as well as to wear on their own)<br />
-2 short sleeve shirts (dressier than tees - one is button down)<br />
-1 dress<br />
-1 jumpsuit<br />
-Airism layering tank<br />
-1 pullover hoodie sweater (to bring wear on plane if it’s cold and for desert night)<br />
-1 cardigan - for dressing up at night when it’s cooler<br />
-1 fleece jacket - desert<br />
-hiking sneakers<br />
-metallic sneakers<br />
-metallic flat sandals<br />
-misc - bathing suit, scarf, pajamas, sun hat</p>
<p>I probably have too many tops, but I did just reduce the numbers as I wrote this. I like options and won’t have to haul my luggage much. But I don’t want to overpack either. Most of these are extremely lightweight fabrics. </p>
<p></div><div><br />
</div><div>Three pairs of shoes are a must for my feet. The metallics give me dress up or down options at night, in different temps. The hiking sneakers are my most comfortable for day. </div><div><br />
</div><div>Feedback is welcome. I will post my final list and a collection. And also probably add an outfit photo with the blue and write dress tomorrow - it will be hot and I’m going to the office. </div></p>
<p>ETA - added promised dress pic. I feel like I’m cheating and wearing a nightgown to the office. New silver Eccos - also seen in finds. I wanted to take the pressure off my beloved hold quilted ones, as I’m on my second pair and that style isn’t made anymore.
