It’s tgdd we main way I have to keep seeing what I’ve got already, making more “ wear today “ outfits which is different from just trying on—I’m trying to break out of the cycle of tryons and going, oh, this is nice, I need to keep it! , but then hanging up and there it stays. I’m guilty of this myself, and I was particularly fascinated with her idea of being &nbsp;“sensitive to aesthetics” in a world of over abundance and how this makes it a real challenge to being a thoughtful consumer. There are so many beautiful things out there to buy but obviously you can’t own them all and the reality is that you likely &nbsp;wouldn’t appreciate them as much even if you could.</p> <p>I have bought due to scarcity fear or because its a sale item and these are usually false urgencies because often the need for this item usually fades over time. Many new items have sat languishing in my closet and shouldn’t have been purchased in the first place.</p> <p>I love the longevity visualization strategy, I mean just how special will this item look or feel over time and after a bunch of washes. Its such a practical reality check to use when deciding whether to buy or not.</p> <p>I have done her closet reality playtime strategy and its certainly helped me stop making a bunch of random purchases. You get to know yourself and your wardrobe needs better so you can avoid making those fantasy purchases.</p> <p>I also loved her other video where she breaks down her wardrobe needs due to her lifestyle. I discovered that I really like the look with my longer jackets — mid-thigh length for a bit of equestrian vibe, and longer is a little boho, depending on the jacket/coat. It actually helped me appreciate my old jeans that I don’t wear much anymore, reviving them with new tall boots. I try to do this. I also try to practice the “walk away and wait” strategy while in-person shopping, leaving an item behind and seeing if it sticks with me. Often I will forget about it, which is a great sign that it wasn’t for me after all. An online shopping strategy of “wishlist and wait” can be really helpful for being more mindful and less impulsive.</p> <p>- Longevity Visualization. Thinking about not only how you will use an item but also about how it will endure the process of wearing, laundering, maintaining, etc. Will this fit your needs and tolerances? How often will you use it? Will it still excite you months or years from now?</p> <p>- “Reality Playtime” - Gaining appreciation for the beautiful things we already own by playing in our closets and actively exploring our wardrobes. Actively playing in your closet to get your fashion fix, before looking for that spark from a new purchase.
