Not too much. Mostly plants.<br /> Exercize daily. Have variety. Do intervals.<br /> Specifically-Pilates, and anything balance related works the core. </p> <p>Ultimately though, the most important thing is to love our bodies for what they can do-6 pack abs or no. We should have gratitude for all the ways we can move, not having pain, not having illness-because we (self included) take that for granted, until we do have health issues.<br /> Also, I suspect the weight probably serves a protective function, in case we have falls. I suspect any effort needed would be UN-reasonable. Our biology is sort of doing it on purpose. Depending on how bad it is, it isn’t necessarily that unhealthy. So getting rid of it becomes a matter of aesthetics rather than health. I’ve seen healthy women in their 80s still complaining of it. Fat cells produce some estrogen and for those of us with earlier menopause especially ( I was 46) that is good for the bones. Also, we start to gain weight like men do without as much estrogen, as estrogen causes us to gain weight in hips, thighs and bums, as women do. Men tend to gain in the upper abdomen so we start to do that too, as our hormones are now more like theirs. Just biology.<br /> I sympathise with you ChristelJ, just edited out my shortest shorts and gave them to my daughter I am 2 years younger than you and just couldn’t look at my upper thighs in the mirror with impunity any more.
