And congratulations. I am not even remotely prepared for a formal event should one come up. But I've yet to feel underdressed for a wedding/funeral/etc. because my family/friends skew so, so casual. I've literally never been to an *indoor* wedding or funeral. They're always in muddy fields or beaches or on top of a mountain. But, yes, my goal for 2018 is to fill those holes (truly dressy shoes and topper, maybe some jewelry or other accessory). My DH has been consistently negligent in waiting until the last minute to tell me about especially work related occasions that we are invited to attend...probably he was ordered to attend. I learned early to have a wardrobe that was ready for anything from formal parties to watching a professional game from the team owner's private suite, funerals and weddings with. unfamiliar customs, and wives are invited to that week-long trip next week to Maui. Yesterday had to attend a funeral. I had two good choices-one a charcoal sweater dress with black tights and a dark tan leather jacket.&nbsp; The other, the one I wore, black ankle pants with a cream sweater and dark olive blazer and an olive and black scarf.&nbsp; Only issue, was not&nbsp;thrilled with footwear. I had to purge pumps as they suddenly started falling off my feet. I ended up wearing an old pair of wedge ankle booties. They however were fine for walking in the grass at grave site.</p> <p>We are going to a New Years eve party-one we have never attended before-so not sure how glitzy or dressy this will be-But I shall not go out and buy anything new--I have a velvety knee length skirt-now can wear either a sparkley sweater, a black and white sparkly top, or a gold lame&nbsp;long cardi with black cami,black semi sheer stockings and sling back 2 inch heeled pumps.&nbsp; I am restraining myself from going on the hunt for some dressier footwear like gold booties-</p>
