My first goal was to stop shopping for summer in Sept. -- I did fairly well with this. Because I got the AZ job, I let myself purchase a dress with my birthday money and a pair of sandals (neither has arrived yet). It should be in the 80s for another month down there, and it is still warm enough here during the day to wear bare legs so long as you add a topper in the morning.

My second was to evaluate potential Fall holes. Since I got the job, this was harder than I thought. I won't be shopping until the weather turns down there, but luckily I will have access to better retail. I do know that I need to replace my bootcut jeans this winter, fill a non-bootie shoe hole, fill a dress shoe hole, and replace several tops (5 tees, 2 flannels, 1 blouse, 1 or 2 sweatshirts). I know that I want a pair of cognac shoes and a tunic, a black or navy jacket plus some orange. I'm more interested in accessories than I have been in years and want to add an indoor scarf. I'm getting there. I was able to score some of my replacement essentials at the GAPCASH sale and ended up with new bootcuts and 4 new tees for less than $50. I'm getting really excited about being settled in to the new place because I have two tees, a tunic, and some cardis I've been stocking that should be perfect for the autumn.

My third goal was to post at least one outfit photo a week. I started off strong, but that fell apart as we got busy at work-- today is the last day!

The fourth goal wasn't fashion related. It was to stay focused on my current contract, job hunt, and health. We are finishing the project today and I have a new, better job lined up and a new rental house! Health has taken a back seat, but I hope to get on track soon.

Cerinda, it looks like your challenge was a success.
I didn't have a challenge per se, just kept track of my shopping.

That's great Cerinda. Well done!

My September challenge was a mixed bag. I wrote about it at http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-challenge

1) I did very well on budget. Infact I didn't shop apart from my Singapore trip....and felt great about it!

2) I successfully created gradations of casual wear and I'm really really enjoying dressing casually on weekends. I haven't felt the need to wear something dressy (hard to believe...I used to only want to wear dressy clothes until a few months back) all month.....so I didn't. I found GREAT inspiration for casual yet polished style by observing the street style of Singapore. I've been happily wearing casuals all the time.

3) Wearing shorts and skirts and summer dresses everyday. I'm really enjoying it too ---- very in sync with my gradations of casual wear. Example: Image #1&2 are at-home casuals and #3 is casual wear for going out.

4) I didn't manage to wear many different kinds of shoes. But that is mostly because I have a foot injury and can only wear very comfy shoes or sneakers, but mostly flip flops

We've seen the fabulous results of the seasons and nature challenge, some SYC posts, some shopping list posts, some K/Rs, and a larger than usual number of Angie's Ensembles. Anybody else care to weigh in on their September Challenges?

I challenged myself to actually photograph everything in my closet and finally understand what works with what. Mission accomplished!

What I learned: my functional wardrobe is way bigger than I thought! 75 pieces, not including footwear, gear, lingerie, and outerwear; the ratio of tops to trousers is nearly ideal, 35 to 13; I have way too many third pieces, 10; the dominant silhouette is indeed long/fluid over lean; and, yes, the palette is largely neutrals.

I'm getting closer to a style descriptor. Maybe incorporating classic and rocker, with elements of arty and Bloomsbury boho. I'm surprised: this would have fit me in my 30s as much as it does in my 50s. Any ideas, Fabbers?

But back to the matter at hand, your September Challenge --How's it working for you?
