I agree with others that some nods to inspiration of the era in your dress would be great. You will look cohesive with your brand. I love the Deco feel of that top.

Yah, I wrestle with this. If you are a small business, there is a big emphasis on authenticity, so I would aim for that. At the same time, you don't want there to be a chasm between what you look like and what your brand "looks" like.

Have fun with it. I love the Bob Hale tee. How about kimonos over a simple dress or trouser outfit?

Lol. Sometimes you gotta wonder if all those people from yesteryear, if they came back and saw all of us in our dungarees and flour sack dresses, thinking it's the height of fashion - what they would say!

Well, for the hair, finger waves and hair bands with feathers or sparkle seem to have been a very big trend and I'll bet you could pull that off pretty easily if you wanted.

How pretty would something like this be?
https://www.bing.com/images/se.....B7AEC3BAD8

Rachylou-We've been watching movies for design inspiration. I also bought a facsimile of a 1920s sears catalogue for ideas. I'm so happy we aren't stuck with pioneer cowboys and Conestoga wagons.

Oh, I think you SHOULD look like you belong to the business. Deco is a great inspiration. Makes me think Metropolis, the film.

Texstyle - OMG I hadn't thought about hair. Mine will not bob, ever. Maybe hats and hairpieces would work, and would be easy to set aside if I get pulled into a production task.

I think you are on the right track and it is a good idea to do branding in your outfits. I think I'd just pick items that can be worn in multiple aspects of your life with a "nod" towards the era. Hairstyle is a big part of the era, right?

Still putting this in off-topic because we aren't ready to go live with the whole story and I want to be able to share the details. A while back I shared that we are starting a new business and our branding company was working on our project. We picked something we love, fits our local tourist market and will draw its artistic inspiration from the Prohibition era, art deco and the Roaring 20s.

I will be spending more time than DH on the retail side of the operation as the "face" of the company. I'm comfortable with the role, and it means getting out of my farm clothes and coveralls several days a week. I know I don't want to wear a costume, but is fun or just weird to consider styles "inspired by" that period? I'm loving the Ocean Park clothes, and that's where my natural inclinations go. On the other hand, the Bob Hale tee with some jeans and two tone oxfords would be fun. (some inspiration here) Or a flapper-inspired dress over leggings. I doubt I will ever have the same customers from day to day so I don't have to be consistent, but I really prefer a small wardrobe. And it must be easy-care: we are still running the farm and the nearest dry cleaner is an hour away. Most business owners in this area wear t-shirts and jeans, so it won't be hard to kick it up a notch appropriate to our premium product.

Part of me feels foolish even asking this question when I should be working on nuts and bolts and spreadsheets. Maybe it's a good distraction when reality starts to get scary. Anyway it seems risky to go over the top with the outfits. What do you advise?
