I think you should give it a whirl (either one)! Don't you have a silk kimono on your list of things to buy? I love that you can wear it as a scarf. And not all silks are slippery. It's hard to tell from the picture if it's a sanded silk or shiny charmeuse. It could end up being a very special statement piece, especially if you have a lot of plain solid clothing. And I think it could be worn very simply with a tank a jeans. The kimono will dress them up for sure, but not so much that it would read "formal".
