Just look at basketball players, they don't just die on the court". A strange way to be reassured about a non fatal heart thing. When I was younger I weighed 10-15 lbs. less than I do now, I was quite small and I too had doctors who blamed problems on my low body weight. The first I had ever heard of such a thing happening is when it happened to my dad this past October. It IS scary !! I am soooo sorry.</p> <p>My dad is 79 and already had had a heart attack, and arrhythmia and a pacemaker AND he is doing fantastically well. His heart muscle is self-repairing, he is driving, working in the garden, walking everywhere and practically back to himself. So if he can do it at his age, you have a fantastic prognosis !</p> <p>You do have to listen to your body ( and your doctor ) and not push yourself when you feel tired. Yes, it apparently is a "normal" virus. My dad got a cold, then pneumonia and just wasn't recovering. His cardiologist ( from New Englan Medical Center in Boston ) says he sees this a couple of times a year, though it is relatively rare. I am so HAPPY to hear that it is not a structural problem with your heart. You will recover ! It sounds like many of you have been on a spring cleaning anyway. Thanks for all the well-wishes. Corny to say, but I feel like it helps. </p> <p>I don't really see the need to be coy about what happened. I was not hit by a bus, thankfully, but I have complications from a normal? viral infection that somehow went to my heart (they think). They think I will be back to normal eventually, but I need to be gentle with myself and give my body the chance to heal. Obviously the symptoms and the whole experience is quite scary. I am sure I am not the only one here who finds it difficult to stop hurtling myself forward at breakneck speed, but I would really like to say that we should all remember to be more gentle with ourselves and trust ourselves too. I was already to the doctor a month ago because I was sure something was very wrong, and she told me something like, oh young skinny women can get palpitations just from breathing too fast (WTF???). I think that was a little skinny hatred there. If she had taken me seriously (and if I had listened better to myself) I wouldn't have ended up in the E.R.</p> <p>Mo and Jenava, your stories really cracked me up Isabel, you too--I am glad I am not the only one who thinks like this I hope you got some nice new jammies when you got home again.
