Una, this winter is definitely the exception. It's been quite mild here in Boston. Last winter -- most winters -- I live in my tall boots so much I get sick and tired of them. But this winter? I've worn them much less often. They are still the go-to when wearing dresses in the winter. But tall boots with skinnies tucked in has felt too warm.

During my mild winters, I wear either my black suede booties or my black boots for casual outings. For church or dressier outfits, I wear black pumps or the same black ankle boots.

For my long, hot summers, I have an assortment of sandals. When I actually recorded my summer outfits last year, I noticed that I wore my berk-ish floral sandals a lot or gear-ish black strappy sandals. I found a replacement for the black sandals: gladiator & lace-up hybrid.

Lots of great answers and it fascinates me that ankle boots seem to reign in cold climates. Also there's a lack of pumps, which when I joined the forum seemed to be much more common. Thank you for all these interesting responses!

Late to the party, but hands-down, my short black Coclico boots. They go with literally everything in my closet, I think, and we have ankle boot weather nearly year-round in Vancouver.

Well, Murph11 and I are alike in that the 'shoes' I probably wear most often are fleece slippers from LL Bean. They are my house shoes most of the year; during the summer it's Vionic flip-flops.

Out in the world, though: the climate here is mild enough that flats can be worn most of the year. I have an embarrassingly large collection of ballet flats, I have to admit, but I do wear them all, and often. I've also really glommed onto the slip-on sneakers trend. They're easy and comfortable and work for the climate and my jeans-based style.

In transitional seasons, I love a comfy flat or slip on sneaker.
My patent flats are just like the burgundy below, only in black, and with cuter contrast white stitching. My slipper flats are on death's door, but I loved the perforated tops, which allowed my feet to breath.

My Moto boots aren't the Blondos in my Finds (although I wish they were). Mine are Rocket Dog -- in Burnished pewter. They are actually edgier looking, but aren't real leather --

Which brings me to the Croc black wedges and the animal print flats. There's a place in every wardrobe for shoes that can take mud and wet without fuss! They're cuter on than in the pics

The Brown shooties are a newer purchase, by B.O.C. They're high volume, but with a gently pointed toe -- which is an awesome combination for my feet. The black quilted wedges are from Kohl's --- I like the quilting and the slightly "space bootie" feel. Very warm and cozy, and more refined than they appear in the pic.

The Skechers? A guilty pleasure. I'm looking for a replacement that is equally comfy, but more fashionable (on a budget). What do you think about the blue New Balance or the Keds?

I've not included my favorites -- Sandals! Cage sandals and gladiators are my favs!

This mild winter, it has been a black ankle boot, also. Additionally, I have used my Earth loafer a lot. More than any other year since I have had them. They are one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes that I haver ever owned...definitely the most comfortable heel. I have them in a medium gray. These things are heavy enough for winter, with a great sole as long as I don't have too worry about snow. : )

Last year, I LIVED in winter, furry boots up to the knee, ankle high winter insulated boots and knee high waterproof heavy leather boots. All in black. I tend to save color for Spring/Summer.

By far, my most worn footwear for fall/winter/spring are these beloved Ugg slippers. Hey, I work from home! When I do venture out, I reach for my Blondo booties --more comfortable than you might think! Summer: bare feet indoors and these workhorse Sofft sandals from last summer.

Ariat Heritage II lacers and keen glarus hiking boots. Wear with everything, keep the neuroma happy. I love the ariats best and they look great leggings, pants, dresses even. The hiking boots surprisingly make an interesting juxtaposition with work wear but since I could not find snow boots that were not excruciating they've been making the rounds and surprisingly I really like the look. Wish I had a second pair!!

I hate that you asked this question, but I decided to be honest. My all time favorite shoe is a flip flop (one in pink; one in red; one in black). I wear them three seasons. I have had to make myself NOT wear them to work. I love everything about them. During the winter months, I resort to leather tennis. They have to be leather or my feet get hot.

This is awful. Neither the flip flops nor the tennis are work appropriate. I DO have a work shoe capsule ..... but despite all my efforts I still always want to wear the flip flops.

I spend my time wondering how I can make flip flops look professional. I mean they are kinda sorta like sandals. But they're not in reality. I may need a fashion intervention.

Ok. Was going to try and take pics, but I'm lazy. My go to shoes right now are all cheapies: Payless combat boots, one black and one grey pair each White Mountain heeled moto boots, two pairs of crocs, two pairs of fake crocs. High toe boxes, can get me pain free through 8 hours of standing on concrete floors, and standing up to two hours of dog walking a day so far...

This winter I've relied heavily on my Pikolinos black and cognac booties and more recently the Aquatalia Fay. I wear the Pikolinos with skinnies and tunics-I really only like them when the whole shoe shows. (Something about the rounded toe makes them look frumpy otherwise.) I wear the Aquatalias with cropped jeans and bootcut/straights. They definitely make my outfits look more modern and sleek--especially when my outfits skew so casual. I rotate in a tall boot now and then but find the booties more comfy for work although I'm not sure why.

In the winter and early spring (when it's really wet), I most often wear my La Canadienne black riding boots and my Blondos (attached). I like the Blondos because they are more fashionable than gear-type boots, but they are made for snow, so I don't have to worry about ruining them.

In the transitional seasons, I most often reach for black booties with a heel or else a pair of black slip-ons (but of a dressier nature).

In the summer, I have a lot of footwear and change it up a lot. It's funny, because probably two-thirds of my shoe collection can be worn during only the summer months, and we have probably only 4 months of summer at best. But I can't help it...all the cute shoes are for summer!

In warmer weather, including today, as we are happening an unseasonable hot spell, metallic Naot Rachel sandals, and less often, for a dressier look, Munro black suede Abby Slingback Sandals.
I learned how to collect and use finds for this post.

Here's my entire shoe wardrobe, minus running sneakers, hiking boots, and water shoes, and a couple of pairs I have on order (including those silver Top Shop pumps).

I am due for a cull -- mostly I'm focusing on replacing shoes that fit a proven need in my shoe capsule, but are either worn out or just aren't quite as comfortable as I like, yet I hold on to them until a better replacement can be found.

They are ALL useful in their own way, even if not worn as often.

What gets worn most often? Definitely the booties. Heeled Impo's for work, flat Munro's for work and for every day. Tall boots get worn when the winter is cold and snow piles high; that didn't happen this year, so they haven't been worn that often. You just can't beat the comfort you get with shoes you can wear with socks.

When the weather gets hot, of course I have flat sandals but for work it gets trickier. I find most closed toed pumps unbearable. When I find a pair that works, I hold on forever. But even my favorites I've had for years can become unbearable in the heat (blisters). So I gravitate towards more strappy heels for air flow and those with laces are awesome (yeah this is in style now!!) and if they have wedges that's even more of a plus!

Ballet flats are creeping back into my wardrobe after a long hiatus. Because it's really nice to have a packable pair for work travel, to get to and from the office, or trounce around the airport.

Well I have a lot of shoes but the categories that get the most use are booties in the "winter", flat pointy shoes in the summer and loafers in everything in between. I would say that this winter's winner has been a flat pointy toed AGL black bootie with serrated sole (consigned in new condition). They feel like sneakers (which I rarely wear).

This winter has been pretty mild so my snow boots haven't gotten too much wear. I have been living in my Aquatalia moto boots, Chelsea booties and La Canadienne wedge booties, all are black. I also keep a pair of Merrell Chill Ice at the back door for quick runs outside. I'm really looking forward to trading my boots for sandals this spring/summer.

Depends completely on the season.

Last year, my Kamik snow boots. But it's a milder winter so this year I have reached the most for my Aquatalia Moto boots. They take me through rain and light snow and they look more presentable than snow boots.

In fall, booties -- this year it was my burgundy suggested-by-LisaP Hibou booties with the higher shaft. I don't have a pic, but the blue ones are quite similar.

In summer, sandals, usually a light coloured pair with a low heel or wedge.

Spring? What is that?

Another for the black ankle boots. Mine are an old pair of super comfortable Munroes. The CPW must be a few cents by now. They look much like the 2nd pair I put in the finds but are black leather, not suede
For warm weather it would be my EF Allots.

Shearling lined high tops when it's colder. Others the rest of the time. Mostly high tops

These Breckelles D'orsay flats are by far my most versitle. Not only are they comfortable enough to wear all day, they are dressy enough for work and casual enough for weekend/jeans. They are cool enough for warm weather (most of the year) and warm enough for our mild winters. I wore another pair out and then got these similar ones (not exactly the same).

I've been wearing ankle boots all winter (Acne and Matt Bernson mostly but also old faves) but on nasty days, it's la Canadienne waterproof shearling lined clunky moto boots more than anything else.

This winter I've worn my brown David Tate Chelsea ankle boots a lot. My black Sofft Chelsea ankle boots have also gotten a lot of wear. We've had a milder winter, so I haven't worn my talk boots much at all.

These are examples - I do have more :)

Sandals for summer - birks & dressier.
Booties - olive & ink. The Free People shoes in #5 have been great with jeans when it's still warmer but I'm over sandals :)

Did I ever tell you I LOVE footwear :)

Ah, I'm going to pitch in for the warm weather gals here. I live in a subtropical climate, and it is hot or warm for most of the year. I live in sandals for 9-10 months. I have lots of pairs but a current fav is a quite refined white plait sandal with a wedge heel. But it is hard to pick just one! I love colour in shoes (fairly neutral clothing!) so I am also quite attached to my orange sandals and cobalt too. And black and rose gold and ....
It rarely gets cool enough for boots here, though I have a good collection from before my move!
