I was at the mall yesterday--distracting the salespersons from the paying customers--and was pulled aside by a fellah with a center hall salescart. He said he's seen many woman wearing flower pins in the last couple days and since he's not from around here ("can you tell from my accent?") he wanted to know what's up? "Is there a special day or something?" It was cute. I had to tell him that we've had so many dark and cold days we are wearing our spring flowers on our lapels. Then he proceeded to try to sell us a fingernail system LOL.

I wear my big flower pins on a jacket lapel or more often in my hair, for special occasions mostly. I wear them pinned behind my ear or a little higher, with my hair down, sort of fascinator-style. When my hair gets long enough to put up, I think it would be fun to pin the flower on a bun or something as well. I still want a real fascinator but until I find one that is not super expensive, I'll stick with the big flowers in my hair. I have had good luck finding them for dirt cheap at H and M, where they tend to come with both an alligator clip and a brooch clip already attached. A couple of bobby pins help them stay more securely in my (very slippery, straight) hair.

Flower pins..I've always liked them but got so many ideas here at YLF plus the confidence to sport them. I started with metal/enamel brooches that are various sizes. Some are vintage. I wear them almost as much on a chain, beads/pearls or leather "chain" as pinned on clothing. I'm still not completely comfortable with the boldness of a big silk flower most of the time but am enjoying a rather large black leather sunflower shape taken from a headband and a couple of pewter leather flowers that can be removed from a skinny pewter belt and put back on. I just pin these on from behind. They get worn most often on jackets and blazers. Recently a found a headband with quality net and silk flowers with bead centers that I removed for wearing on about anything since they are small and light weight. I prefer not to have too much contrast between flower and what I'm wearing it on.

Those are great, Patty! I was in AT Loft a few weeks ago and they had great flower pins -- I bought one in every color (off-white, olive, fuschia)!

I've seen many of you sporting flowers on your jackets in your pics---I thought it might might be nice to hilite them in a thread. Flowers/buttons/pins--what are you wearing?

Around the time Heather started wearing her fab homemade flowers I bought a flower pin at Micheal's Craft store and clipped it on my jean jacket-- a big orange Daisie. I didn't expect to get attention from it--people wanted to touch it and called across the parking lot "Like your flower!"---I think we are all in need of spring here in the Northern Hem--enuff to want to touch a stranger's lapel flower! Even the young man SA at the Guess Jeans store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've changed it up to a white Daisie now as the Dandilions star to peek out of the lawn.
*Add--I certainly didn't find a flower for attention I just thought it cool to put one on.*
(I may have figured out how to post pics finally!)
That's Bob in the pic btw.
